This song was my late wife's favorite song by Floyd. She loved A7F and introduced me to them. This was published after she died and it hit me so hard when I just now heard this randomly on youtube. She used to play So Far Away all the time, ironically it is now a song I play to mourn her. Thank Avenged Seven Fold for this cover, it means more to me than you can imagine.

This song hits all the right points.
At first they were afraid that you would turn it into another song, in an unflattering way.
Your performance respects the original, and hits even harder in the sad places.
I remembered my friend who I lost in the war, who I wish was here with us, and would have heard this performance.. I can already imagine the smile that would have appeared on his face..

I heard this song while 1300 miles away from my family. I was lucky enough to use that time to make the changes I needed to finally get them back and earn their trust back. My grandma was a die hard floyd fan,and in my teen years I was all about a7x, and we shared our love of music together. This was always our song. It was very centimental to me. I absolutely love this song. My favorite band has been Pink Floyd for over 40 years and I did not think anyone could do a cover song by Pink Floyd and have it sound good but A7X, you did this song proud and I have an even greater appreciation for you. Avenged is one of my favorite bands also and has been since my son introduced me to Avenged and it has stuck for years now. Love your music and am still missing The Rev, FoREVer. only Pink Floyd has ever touched me emotionally like A7X. I am in my 40s and I have heard a lot of great rock/metal over the years. But Avenged just gets me emotionally. Me and my Dad never talked around much. He was more into teaching me the values and purpose on how to live my life and be a pillar to the family. Back then I didn't know that he had brain tumour. It was only during the last stages of his life after the chemo that I discovered and he didn't want me to be sad either by his situation. This song is a connection of two lives without words but by a stronger bond of understanding. Its been 9 years now ever since he passed away. And this song is something that reminds me of the good old days that I spent with my dad. He was my Hero after all. RIP Dad. You were a good man. I hope I grow up to be the man you wanted me to be

I can relate... My dad was 3b lung cancer.. We kinda thought or knew he was sick or something.. He was losing weight, going home early from work, and then had a respitory infection that wouldnt go away.. He was addicted to pain pills at the time.. Anyway, I think he knew he was sick but didnt want to hear it from drs.. Well he did eventually.. And no longer than a week of knowing, he was taking his last breaths of life surrounded by family, and some good fire house buddies of his.... Never gets easier.. The only thing thats gets easier is remembering they aren't here... I still reach for my phone to tell him something funny.. but opps

This cover sums up the perfect recipe of a "good cover," (which is simple in theory and damn hard to achieve in practice): being respectful and empathetic to the meaning and soul of the original one at the same time that you pour out the sound, essence and identity of the covering band. First time hearing this version (and I must confess I was sceptical because Wish You Were Here truly is an ineffable song) and I can only say that this is an amazing cover. As many times as I listen to this song I miss my dad. He hasn’t passed but in age he isn’t who he used to be. It hurts but I know it’s time which you can’t stop. Also I see the smile of your faces in the video and remember the faces in old videos. You made it. Legends. Keep going. I need you guys.
