Cataclysm
Aversions Crown Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴

Without man the earth began
Without man the earth will end

Our judgment approaches.
Our presence will be erased.
They will come from the skies.
An implausible might we must face.
Impact of cataclysmic scope indicate their arrival to this world
Masses gather to kneel to their feet, these are not gods these are not angels,

These are not gods
These are not angels

The ancients return
To their temples
The harvest begins
Beliefs mean nothing.

The harvest begins

Overall Meaning

In Aversions Crown's song Cataclysm, the lyrics speak about the unchanging, enduring nature of the earth. The first two lines of the song, "Without man the earth began, without man the earth will end," suggest that humanity is only temporary and that the planet will continue even after humans are gone. The song then addresses an incoming judgment and demise, possibly from extraterrestrial sources. Humans are warned that they are not prepared to face this threat, and that there will be no saving them.

The second half of the song describes the arrival of an ancient civilization, which is met with awe and reverence by the people. At this point, beliefs are revealed to be meaningless, as everything that was once important and held value in the world has been upturned. The mention of "harvest" may suggest that the arrival of these beings will result in a reckoning of some sort, and that humans will suffer.
