Up north out in Terry, Montana
The location of this true story is set in a rural town called Terry located in the northern part of Montana.

Lived a momma and daddy from Louisiana with their boy
The story revolves around a family consisting of a father, a mother, and their son who moved to Terry from Louisiana.

Their lives were full of joy
The family was leading a happy life in Terry, Montana.

But soon that'd all be destroyed
The happy life of the family was about to be destroyed by some unforeseeable events.

The daddy's brother rode up from the south
The father's brother came to Terry from Southern America.

He wore a frown on his face and packed a dip in his mouth and he said:
The father's brother had a sad expression and was chewing tobacco as he spoke.

Can you raise my son Red?
The father's brother requested the family to raise his son named Red.

Cuz his momma just turned up dead
Red's mother had died which is why the father's brother wanted the family to take care of Red.

The momma took the boy into her arms
The mother of the family held Red in her arms and agreed to raise him.

But the daddy said get that thing away from this farm its insane
The father did not want Red on the farm and referred to him as an insane being.

Their love began to drain
The love between the mother and the father started to decrease because of Red's arrival on the farm.

So the daddy moved to Coeur d'Alene
The father decided to move away from the family to a place called Coeur d'Alene without the mother and Red.

As Red did start to grow old
As Red began to grow older, his true nature was revealed to the mother.

Well the momma did start to see the evil unfold in Red
The mother began to witness the wickedness in Red gradually being exposed.

She sensed a day full of dread
The mother felt a sense of fear of what was to come in the future because of Red's nature.

When blood and tears would be shed
The mother had a premonition that there would be a day when blood and tears would be shed because of Red.

The momma's blood son did bring her joy
The mother's biological son gave her happiness and was a source of joy in her life.

He got the nickname of Montana's Cowboy, from the folks in town
The mother's son was known in town as Montana's Cowboy, a nickname given to him by the locals.

Who loved to have him around
The people in town enjoyed the presence of the mother's son around them.

But that made Red want to put him down
Red felt threatened by the presence of Montana's Cowboy and wanted to put him out of the way.

The momma prayed that if that day did come
The mother prayed that if the day when Red would harm her son ever came, then something would be done about it.

Red would soon be found, beat to the ground until he's numb, then shot dead
The mother wished for Red to be beaten up, incapacitated, and killed if he ever tried to harm her son.

Cuz no matter what she said
Despite the mother's efforts, Red was still determined to harm Montana's Cowboy.

Evil was all he read
Red only saw evil in the people around him and was consumed by it.

Red's mind was consumed by darkness, and he only saw evil in the world around him.

Red's true nature was that of a wicked character, and everything he encountered only added to his demonic outlook on life.
