Out of Control
Awake Lyrics

Out of control
I'm railing your dad 'cause he likes me so much
We blow your mom
Going insane when I'm told what to do
I feel like I don't belong here
This world is not my own
Beneath my obliging visage
Is where the mess awaits
Alone so long
I can't fulfill your needs
Alone at last
My mind just doesn't work this way
'Cause I don't have a say
Fuck
I want you to see
How to live a life just the way you feel
Set your demons free
And fuck anything (and fuck everything)
Out of control
I've never felt like this before
Roaring like a dinosaur
Never felt like this before
Slaying like a predator
Bow down now
Obey
I hate you
Go burn in hell
I want you to see
How to live a life just the way you feel
Set your demons free
And fuck anything (and fuck everything)
Out of control
I'm railing your dad 'cause he likes me so much
We blow your mom
Going insane when I'm told what to do
I am your waking nightmare
Wish you'd see how you all scare me
I don't know how you can function
It's alright 'cause I have found a way
I'm done with what you say

Former paramedic. That's absolutely terrifying.

Worst I had was a wanted person hiding under a bed.

I don't remember why but a Deputy came to check on my partner and I on a chest pain call. Frequent flyer, he'd call but not want to go to the ER.

This time he kept saying that there was a man under his woman's bed. Deputy showed up, heard this, and next thing we knew he had his gun drawn giving commands. Wanted individual indeed under the bed.

Keep aware of your surroundings. Listen when someone indicates a possible threat.

@Callen Charles thanks for sharing.

Honestly, I was anxious just about every single call - until I arrived at the scene. It was an adrenaline dump, especially if it sounded bad.

Partners didn't know what to think of me.

Freaking out when tones dropped, then getting things done. Not that I did not have my share of mistakes, as any provider does.

I was praised by hospital staff and my medical director for reviewing bad calls with them and never being a "paragod". That was good enough for me.

Many, many years removed. PTSD from a handful of calls. Thought recently about returning to the field but decided to focus on IT instead.

My dad actually did this as well a few years ago.

He was chasing a driver (dad's a Georgia State Trooper) for roughly 30 minutes, then the driver pulled over on the highway, jumped out and shot another state trooper.

My dad jumped out at roughly the same time and shot the guys gun out of his hand, then he dove for the gun, causing my dad and two other troopers to mag dump him.

One of my dad's shots hit his car door, which has been framed inside of his house along with an excerpt from my dad's boss who 'congratulated' him for 'shooting the most dangerous car doors in the state of Georgia'

Edit: Forgot to mention that the trooper that got shot is fine, we all got to see him and his family a few months afterwards.

Being a 20 year old FF/EMT hearing you talk about a 20 year old medic being shot hit hard, an innocent life who’s job was to help people taken. RIP to a fallen brother.

@Ruminating 15 that is something I believe we should do

@Thomas Bradley The manpower would be rough- in addition to the already limited space being cramped by someone not involved with patient care. Not sure about that one.

@Robert Sorry to hear that, man. I wish you the best, and I hope you can/have found the good things in life too, despite as a medic- obviously like an EMT seeing mostly the bad every day.

@John Pearce As far as I understand, generally you can't carry as Fire/EMS. For one- Fire could have bullets go off in the heat of a structure Fire, EMS your rapport with your patient might be broken if you're armed and they see you armed, amongst other reasons. Many wear bulletproof vests if responding to shootings, but others standardize the use of them all the time, so it depends- like what ElectraComplex GalaxyClit said.
