Years
Axel Flóvent Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

A mother's heart
Can feel the tide
The waves that come rushing in
A fearful wind

Another star
I watched from afar
The stream is innocent
It keeps us clean

Water washes off your years
Forever home
Twilight creeps under your skin
What a night it has been

As a child
I feared the night the endless fight
I didn't stand
The silence

Reminded by
The unknown sight
I didn't quite understand
I blamed a friend

Water washes off your years
Forever home
Twilight creeps under your skin
What a night it has been

Water washes off your years
Forever home
Twilight creeps under your skin
What a night

Water washes off your years
Forever home
Twilight creeps under your skin
What a night it has been

It has been

It has been
It has been

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Axel Flovent's song "Years" have a deep sense of introspection and contemplation about life's struggles, particularly in relation to motherhood, nature and childhood memories. The opening lines of the song, "A mother's heart can feel the tide, the waves that come rushing in, a fearful wind," depict the emotional vulnerability and sensitivity of a mother who can feel the ebb and flow of life's challenges. The imagery of the tide and waves symbolizes the unpredictability and transience of life that can cause fear and apprehension in a mother's heart.

The song also portrays the cleansing and rejuvenating power of nature. The lyrics "Water washes off your years, forever home, twilight creeps under your skin, what a night it has been" depict the idea that water can wash away the past and rejuvenate the soul. The imagery of the "forever home" also symbolizes the constant and grounding presence of nature, which can provide a sense of restoration and comfort.

The song also touches on the theme of childhood memories, particularly the fear of darkness and the unknown. The lyrics "As a child, I feared the night, the endless fight, I didn't stand, the silence" depict the struggle of a child who has to confront their inner fears and anxieties. The line "water washes off your years" can also be interpreted as a message of hope for those who have experienced challenging childhoods, as nature can help heal emotional wounds over time.

Overall, "Years" is a song that explores the complexities of human emotions and life experiences, using nature and childhood memories as a lens to understand them.
