Close Your Eyes
Axium Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Bury your thoughts, bury my soul and pray to hold
You're too afraid to take this on and face the ridicule
Try as you might you can't fool me
The pain you hide seems so close to me

And it's ok to close your eyes to see
To make believe you're happy for the world to see
I know you think there's nothing left to do
But I'll come down to you, and I'll come down to you

Bury you face inside your hands tonight and hide the tear and
Try not to contemplate these innate fears
I just can't seem to do what's needed
And leave you lost and mistreated, yeah

And it's ok to close your eyes to see
To make believe you're happy for the world to see
I know you think there's nothing left to do
But I'll come down to you, and I'll come down to you

I see the pain you feel
I know it seems real
There's nothing left to do
So I'll come down to you, down to you

And it's ok to close your eyes to see
To make believe you're happy for the world to see, yeah
I know you think there's nothing left to do

But I'll come down to you, down to you
But I'll come down to you, down to you

Overall Meaning

In "Close Your Eyes", Axium sings about a character who is struggling with deep pain and sorrow. The verses describe the character trying to bury their thoughts and soul, as if running away from the pain instead of facing it head-on. The pain is evident to the singer, who sees through the facade and knows that the character cannot fool them. The chorus suggests that it is okay to close your eyes to see, which means that sometimes it is better to pretend to be happy even when you are not, but the singer wants the character to know that they will come down to them and face the pain together.

The second verse continues the theme of trying to hide the pain by burying it inside the face and hiding the tears. The singer acknowledges that they themselves are unable to do what is needed - to leave the character alone and let them deal with their pain on their own. Instead, they want to come down to the character and support them, even when they are feeling lost and mistreated.

Overall, "Close Your Eyes" is a comforting song that suggests it is okay to acknowledge pain and suffering, and that there are always people willing to help and support you through tough times.

I absolutely adore this song; it almost sounds like a traditional Celtic lament, haunting and beautiful. Also love Somber, Therapy and Truth is a Gun ... and about 40 other songs ... so far. The music he/they created as such young men is just amazing.

The man is just brilliant. Axium Analog Heart David Cook the Record We're Only Honest When We're Sleeping (unreleased song from 2nd unreleased album after Analog Heart), on live tour video only Anodyne (MWK cover, co-written with the great Neal Tiemann, guitarist and songsmith extraordinaire) And all his AI arrangements. Love all of his music and his voice and his new band and his Declaration tour performances and all his live performances. Nothing compares with him :)

how can this be? not even 1 bad song in their entire repertoire. ok that's Unhuman!

divanahi

yes he is a very special artist and a great human being. his original material is outstanding. the new record is too comercial over produced and poppy for my taste. i prefer his old stuff where his soul really shines through and he is much more distinctive as oppose to the mediocrity of todays music.

i think "blindsided" and "the story thus far" are available for purchase online (mp3) @ walmart. the physical CD's are currently unavailable.
