Renegade
Axwell /\ Ingrosso Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Baby, I'm a renegade
Baby, you're a firestorm
Move your body close to mine
We can dance into the dawn
I can see we're getting late
The way you, the way you, the way you look tonight
And I could lose a year of sleep
The way you, the way you, the way you look tonight

Shoot me straight into my heart
We don't have to take it slow
Love me like we're out of time
Easy come and easy go
Cut me deep into the bone
You're my perfect getaway
I am right where I belong
We got more than words can say

Baby, I'm a renegade
Baby, you're a firestorm
Move your body close to mine
We can dance into the dawn
I can see we're getting late
The way you, the way you, the way you look tonight
And I could lose a year of sleep
The way you, the way you, the way you look tonight

The way you, the way you, the way you look tonight
The way you, the way you, the way you look tonight

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to this song are about two people who are rebels, going against the norm and societal expectations, and they have found each other in their rebelliousness. The first line, "Baby, I'm a renegade," is a declaration of independence and non-conformity. The second line, "Baby, you're a firestorm," suggests that the other person is passionate and intense, and that their energies complement each other. The chorus, "Move your body close to mine, We can dance into the dawn," reveals that they are physically attracted to each other and enjoy each other's company. They are in the moment, living life to the fullest while the night is still young.

The second verse, "Shoot me straight into my heart, We don't have to take it slow," reinforces the idea that they are impulsive and don't want to waste any time, ignoring any potential consequences. "Love me like we're out of time, Easy come and easy go," further emphasizes the importance of the present moment, likening their love to adrenaline-fueled excitement that cannot be tamed. They are in ecstasy, feeling so much emotion that they might as well be lost in one another. They have found something special, as expressed in the final line, "We got more than words can say." They enjoy each other's company beyond the physical, as evidenced by their mutual non-conformity and passion for living.

A cell is like a city

Cytoplasm=environment and air
A cytoplasm is a gel-like fluid throughout the cell where the organelles of the cell are found. It takes up all the space in the cell. Similarly in a city the environment and the atmosphere surround the city. Around them all types of buildings and infrastructure are found.

Nucleus= City Hall
The city hall/town hall is where the instructions for the activities in the city are given. It houses the mayor, its associated departments and its employees. Similarly, the nucleus controls all the organelles of the cell. It contains the DNA (mayor), and chromatids (other employees of the city hall).

Nuclear membrane= City Hall fence with security guards
The City Hall fence and the security guards protect the City Hall by allowing only certain people (employees) and materials in and out. Similarly, the nuclear membrane keeps all the chromatids and the DNA inside the nucleus safe.

Mitochondria=powerplants
A coal-fired power station burns coal to produce the energy required for the city to function. It releases the chemical energy stored in the coal’s bonds which is used to power the city. Similarly, the mitochondria break glucose bonds and releases the chemical energy for the cell to function in a process called cellular respiration.

Chloroplasts=solar panels and trees
The solar panels absorb the sunlight and convert it into electrical energy. Similarly, the chloroplasts contain chlorophyll which absorbs sunlight for photosynthesis, for creating glucose. In a city, trees also absorb sunlight for photosynthesis. They give us the raw materials such as wood for construction. They also provide the city inhabitants with oxygen and sometimes food in gardens.

Ribosomes= factories
In factories, products and goods are produced. All the goods that are required to build the city are made in factories. Similarly, ribosomes create proteins by assembling amino acids. They are protein factories. Proteins are what cells and all the organelles are made of; they are the building blocks of cells.

Lysosomes=Garbage trucks
The garbage in dustbins is collected by garbage trucks. They break down the waste and salvage what can be reused or recycled in recycling centers. Similarly, lysosomes break down worn out cell parts and other waste material in the cell with the help of enzymes. They are however not found in plant cells, since they have a tough cell wall that keeps out foreign substances.

Vacuoles= warehouses
Warehouses are buildings for storing raw materials or manufactured goods before they are distributed in the city. Vacuoles also store food water, wastes and other important materials in the cell.

Endoplasmic reticulum=roads and streets
Cars, trucks, buses and other vehicles, which carry people and the goods, travel around the city using roads. The endoplasmic reticulum also has passageways that carry the proteins(goods) and other materials from one end of the cell to the other.

Nucleolus=factory builders
Since ribosomes are like factories which build proteins, nucleolus would be like the people and machines who build the factories. Nucleolus creates ribosomes, so it would be best comparable to the factory builders. It is found inside the nucleus of the cell.

Cell wall= City wall
Composed of cellulose, the cell wall shapes and protects the cell. A city however doesn’t have a wall that surrounds it for its shape, but every building and house has its own walls to shape, support and protect them.

Cell membrane=the police
The police controls what goes into and out of the city. They also protect and support people and things inside the city. The cell membrane also controls substances that enter and escape the cell. It is a partially permeable membrane, causing only certain substances to enter and escape the cell based on their sizes.

Golgi apparatus=trucks and post offices
The post office packages goods in envelopes or boxes, and distributes them around the city to everybody. The trucks also carry the packaged goods around the city. Similarly, the Golgi apparatus also receives proteins and other materials from the endoplasmic reticulum, packages them and distributes them around the cell.
