Bambi
Azealia Banks Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

So where you from? Oh yeah
So, do you speak any french?
Where am I from?
I′m from New York, New York, New York, New York
So, what's your sign? Are you an Aquarius?
... an Aquarius? What′s so ... funny?
Hahahahaha
You ... get a ...
If your man's with a. .
To the rhythm... and the digits can't breathe
And she′ll leave, she the ... champion
... said a little bam bam bambi
I know them bitches can′t stand me, can't stand me,
... said a little bam bam bambi
I know them bitches can′t stand me, can't stand me,

So bang against the wall
But no one wants to see you fall down
The repetition kills you, the repetition kills you
Oh, the repetition kills you

Put your hands over your eyes
Ans stumble your way through the night
The repetition kills you, the repetition kills you
Oh, the repetition kills you

I mean, what the fuck we supposed to do now?

Do you guys do...
You should try it, I bet you really, really... like it

Overall Meaning

The song Bambi by Azealia Banks opens with a conversation between two individuals, where the first individual is asking where the other is from and if they speak French. The person responds by saying they are from New York and gets asked about their zodiac sign, specifically if they are an Aquarius. The mention of the Aquarius sign is met with laughter, showing that it's not considered a favorable sign for some unknown reason.

As the song progresses, Azealia Banks talks about being the champion and how her competition can't stand her, with the repetition of the phrase "said a little bam bam bambi." The second verse describes someone banging against the wall and stumbling through the night, symbolizing the challenges in life that can lead to repetition and eventually, exhaustion. She ends the song with "what the fuck we supposed to do now?" and encouraging the listener to try something new that they might really like.

Overall, the lyrics of Bambi talk about finding success in the face of adversity, being confident in who you are, and breaking free from the monotony of life. The song also addresses universal themes of identity, repetition, and growth.

Ok here’s my best guess at the actual lyrics of the rap:

You know my little tan clean
and my ghetto fancy
If your man split the digits
imma spend his damn cheese

Imma vamp with the ribbon
and the little panty
Then I dance to the rhythm
but these bitches cant breathe

And she a lead
She a damn champion
Do the dance for ya n***a
like a damn banji (ha)

I said to little bam Bambi
“I know all these bitches really can’t stand me”
Can’t stand me (x4)

I said to little bam Bambi
“I know all these bitches really can’t stand me”

I love how she's mixing hip hop with high fashion...making it more marketable

Nbub Bub

She works a composition of trip-hop and trance beats too? ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!? She is a fucking killer. Bjork and Portishead might be my favorite woman musicians (through multiple albums) because of the technicality of the beats they work with and their voices complimenting in unique ways. Damn, I hope Banks pans out and the music industry doesn't turn her sound into something putrid and rancid like other woman musicians.

godddd this is unreal, she never disappoints

Nicki & Azealia both hold weight in pen game. They just have two different takes in art form. Both pushing the boundaries of female rap.

I love both but i think azalea’s artistry outdoes nickis

Puccino Vasili

@tom sanchez ☆ I wouldn’t say that .. nicki has proved that she’s also versatile. Nicki can & has rapped on every beat & has a top 10 in like 7 genre’s. What makes azealia different is that not only does she rap but she sings too

C D

@tom sanchez ☆ Nicki literally broke Aretha Franklins billboard record her artistry is unmatched. Though I do agree Azealia is extremely talented but not in the same way Nicki is. Azealia is more focused on her flow and her bars are great but not on Nicki’s level. Nicki has mastered her pen game and her use of literary devices such as entendres and homophones are unmatched. That’s what makes Nicki the Queen of Rap and one of the greats. Azealia is definitely more talented than Megan and Doja tho. I would consider Azealia to be the princess of rap.

C D

@Puccino Vasili Nicki sings as well. Grand Piano, Turn Me On, Va Va Voom, Masquerade, Pills N Potions, etc. are such examples.

Puccino Vasili

@C D nicki doesn’t consider herself a singer though & azealia can hold a note better than nicki no offense
