Composed by sisters Antonia (Toñi) and Encarnación (Encarna) Salazar, the singing duo comes from Badajoz. They are part of a large family of performers: their grandfather was a musician, their father a singer and author, their brothers the members of the group Los Chunguitos and their uncle is famous singer Porrina de Badajoz. The Azucar Moreno sisters began their singing careers as back-up vocalists to their brothers, but in 1982, they were discovered and signed by record label EMI Spain, resulting in two albums with moderate commercial success released in 1984 and 1986. In 1988 they signed with CBS-Epic and relaunched their music with a bolder production style and matching sexier image and released the album Carne De Melocoton. They became one of the first Spanish acts to combine their Romani heritage and traditional cantaora vocal style with urban dance rhythms like disco, r'n'b, funk and techno.

Como si fuera esta noche
La última vez
Bésame, bésame mucho
Que tengo miedo a perderte
Perderte después
Bésame, bésame mucho
La última vez
Bésame, bésame mucho
Que tengo miedo a perderte
Perderte otra vez
Quiero tenerte muy cerca
Mirarme en tus ojos
Verte junto a mi
Piensa que tal vez mañana
Yo ya estaré lejos
Muy lejos de aquí
Bésame, hay bésame mucho
Como si fuera esta noche
La última vez
Bésame, bésame mucho
Que tengo miedo a perderte
Perderte después
Bésame, hay bésame mucho
Como si fuera esta noche
La última vez
Bésame, hay bésame mucho
Que tengo miedo a perderte
Perderte después
Quiero tenerte muy cerca
Mirarme en tus ojos
Verte junto a mi
Piensa que tal vez mañana
Yo ya estaré lejos
Muy lejos de aquí
The lyrics of Azucar Moreno's song "Besame Mucho" describe a deep yearning for someone they love, expressed through a series of passionate kisses. The singer implores their lover to kiss them as if it were the last time; they are afraid of losing them forever. The lyrics are full of affection and devotion, with the singer wanting to hold their lover close and look into their eyes, knowing that they may not see them again after this moment. The repetition of the phrase "bésame mucho" (kiss me much) reinforces the intense desire for physical and emotional connection.
The chorus of the song contains the line "que tengo miedo a perderte" (I am afraid to lose you), which adds an element of tension to the lyrics. The singer is aware that they might not be able to hold onto their lover forever, and this knowledge suffuses their intimate moments with a sense of urgency. They want to make the most of every moment they have together, savoring the sensation of their lover's lips on theirs. The line "piensa que tal vez mañana yo ya estaré lejos" (think that maybe tomorrow I will be far away) adds to the sense of uncertainty and impermanence, making the desire for connection even stronger.
Overall, "Besame Mucho" is a passionate and emotional song that expresses the deep longing of two people in love. It captures the intensity of a fleeting moment and the overwhelming feelings that come with it.
