You Done Lost Your Good Things Now
B.B. King Lyrics

Oh
Baby, you done lost your good thing now
Oh
You done lost your good thing now
Well, the way I used to love you baby
Baby, that's the way I hate you now

You used to say that you loved me
But baby, I believe you've changed your mind
You used to say that you loved me
But baby I believe you've changed your mind
Well, I don't blame you baby
Because you ain't what you used to be

Let me love you just one more time
Yes, let me love you one more time anyway
Oh, let me love you, let me love you, let me love you one more time, baby
Let me love you one more time anyway
Oh you can't quit me now, baby
Because you didn't mean me no good anyway

Well, you know where I'm from, baby
So please don't try to mistreat me
Yes, you know where I'm from, baby
So please don't try to mistreat me
Yes, because I'll make your mother a present
Baby, of you and your casket too

Oh, you once said you loved me
And you would do anything I said
Oh, you once said you loved me baby
And you would do anything I said
Oh, but the way you treat me now, baby
I just soon rather be dead

Oh
Baby, you done lost your good thing now
Oh
Baby you done lost your good thing now

The way I used to love you
Baby, that's the way I hate you now

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to B.B. King's "You Done Lost Your Good Thing Now" depicts a relationship that has taken a turn for the worse. The singer reflects on the love that he used to have for his partner, now replaced with hate. He accuses his partner of changing her mind about loving him and not being the person she used to be, causing him to not blame her. The singer then pleads for one more chance to love her before ultimately condemning her for mistreating him, threatening the ultimate act of revenge, and wishing he was dead instead of being treated poorly by his partner.

The song is a classic blues tune, and the lyrics reflect the pain of losing something good, be it a partner or a love once shared. The song's use of the blues scale and a call-and-response melody is a hallmark of King's style. The lyrics are simple and straightforward, yet evocative of the loneliness and heartbreak experienced by many.

My aunt is 86 years old. She seen BB play in concert back in the 60's. She said BB can make any guitar sound any way he want. There is no one that can duplicate his playing.

Have you ever listened to Peter Green?

Tell auntie stevie says hello

@BlindMellowJellyInc

There are none who can efficiently. He has a box he plays in and it is tonal for the most part as he learned in Memphis. Not to be dissing anyone but when you listen to T Bone Walker you hear nothing but BB King just as when you listen to Stevie Ray Vaughn you hear nothing but Albert King. All music no matter what instrument is nothing more than a vehicle for those who influenced you. BB Once said he wanted to do Louie Jordon on the guitar and this is a wonderful example of it. Listen to Louie's Buzz Me Baby and you will hear the direct changes this song provides. Your aunt is right, in her time no one sounded like him except him. My great grandmother used to love Lonnie Johnson and I can hear him in most bb licks. I was never able to ask him but I am sure he listened to Lonnie Johnson too.

My father was one of the sax players in the band back in the sixties and that's why i'm a big fan. BB could make Lucille cry!
