Daysleeper
B.R.A.K.E. Lyrics

Staff cuts have socked up the overage
Directives are posted.
No callbacks complaints.
Everywhere is calm.
Hong Kong is present
Taipei awakes
I see today with a newsprint fray
My night is colored headache gray
Daysleeper
The bull and the bear are marking
Their territories
They're leading the blind with
Their international glories
I'm the screen the blinding light
I'm the screen, I work at night.
I see today with a newsprint fray
My night is colored headache gray
Don't wake me with so much.
Daysleeper.
I cried the other night
I can't even say why
Fluorescent flat caffeine lights
Its furious balancing
I'm the screen, the blinding light
I'm the screen, I work at night
I see today
Don't wake me with so much. the
Ocean machine is set to nine
I'll squeeze into heaven and valentine
My bed is pulling me.
Gravity
Daysleeper, daysleeper.
Daysleeper, daysleeper, daysleeper
The song "Daysleeper" by B.R.A.K.E. narrates the experience of a person who works an overnight shift and has to adjust their sleep cycle accordingly. The opening lines of the song depict a night shift workerās daily routine, with the āreceiving dept. 3 a.m.ā and the ādirectivesā that are posted. The worker is trying to maintain their focus amidst the staff cuts that have led to the āoverageā being āsocked up.ā The song describes the absence of any complaints or callbacks and the general calm that prevails in the workplace. The references to Hong Kong and Taipei signify a globalized world where people are working across different time zones.
The sung chorus āDaysleeperā implies the worker's hectic and disjointed lifestyle due to their overnight shift. The lyrics also suggest that the night worker is always behind on the news, as they only see it in a ānewspaper fray.ā The bull and the bear marking their territories are a metaphor for the stock market with reference to the international glories. āIām the screen, the blinding lightā depicts the computer screen on which the worker spends long hours. The fluorescent flat caffeine lights are inescapable, and the song suggests that it has become the norm. The reference to the āocean machine is set to nineā and āsqueeze into heaven and valentineā convey the workerās feeling of being crushed by his/her monotonous night shift routine.

@@seangeorge11 Sorry, but this is literally the first verse...
The blood stains on my hands
Our three year, one night stand
Love is bitter when itās spent lying next to me in bed
Say her name under my breath
This is modern Hawthorne Heights if I've ever seen it, and then to finish out THE FIRST VERSE
Itās toxic, the same dance
Our feet firm in quicksand
Love is bitter when I see how much I can make you bleed
āTil you feel like youāre deceased
They literally talk about blood twice, feeling dead, and "bitter love" twice, all in one verse. What do you mean there's nothing really emo about this song?

The blood stains on my hands
Our three year, one night stand
Love is bitter when it's spent
Lying next to me in bed
Say her name under my breath (Sleeptalk)
It's toxic, the same dance
Our feet firm in quicksand
Love is bitter when I see
How much I can make you bleed
Do you feel like you're deceased? (Sleeptalk)
Into the night, I drink and drive
Anything to help me let go, let go
You feel the pain, I feel the same
But we cannot repeat this cycle
The worst is yet to come
The worst is yet to come
No please don't be alarmed
We tend to fall apart
I'm entirely to blame
No, I couldn't keep you safe
If there's trust I will betray (Sleeptalk)
Sunset, sunrise
It's better you're not mine
I had everything to lose
Always find a way to prove
That I'm undeserving of you
Into the night, I drink and drive
Anything to help me let go, let go
You feel the pain, I feel the same
But we cannot repeat this cycle
The worst is yet to come
The worst is yet to come
I play the victim, like it's tradition
Now I can see that I should have left you alone
The worst is yet to come
One day you'll see
That the truth is, I am just a disease
(I am just a disease
I am just a disease)
The worst is yet to come
The worst is yet to come
The worst is yet to come
The worst is yet to come
I play the victim, like it's tradition
Now I can see that I should have left you alone
The worst is yet to come

Anybody else have that problem when they find a new song and listen to it so much that it attaches to the that time in your life, and in the future you come back to listen to that song again and you're just filled with all the emotions and nostalgia of that time when you found that song
I tried to explain the best I can lol but its hard to explain
Anyways I feel like this is one of those songs ill come back to after some time and remember and feel all the emotions I'm going thru right now
@alexiluffy216
same bro, except this happens to all the bands i listened to haha
@jud3k_719
I think that's normal, I have a lot of songs that are attached to specific time in my life with specific emotions in it.
@matthewnovak7351
All. The. Time.
@hunterlail8100
All too much brother.
@cookiie92
Yesss
@dragonsan45
Much more melodic than I was expecting - but Rory's voice is so stellar - I'm all for it.
@Smithysmithin
Well, just like with every other album by them, they have their different songs. Crooked Soul was their heavy single, this is the softer more melodic single!
@thedabbincabin
Agreed my dude
@tas9158
I agree but check out crooked soul though
