Put an end to injustice, don't let it continue as a minor pause

But one day we'll face our karma
Eventually, we will face the consequences of our actions

By paying the price for the mistakes of our forefathers
We will bear the consequences of the historic wrongdoings of our ancestors

Preconceived beliefs based on the colour of our skin
Judging others based on their skin color without getting to know them

Opportunities stripped at birth just because I had more melanin
Having opportunities limited from birth due to having darker skin

Entitlement, look around in your environment
Recognize the privileges bestowed upon you based on your surroundings

Years of oppression, you can't blame them for the violence
Generations of suffering have led to understandable anger and aggression

The rioting, something that would've never been
The protests and unrest are a consequence of deep-rooted issues

Cut the silence, It's time to shed some light on them
Break the silence and bring attention to these issues

It's 2020 but altercations are still aplenty
Despite the year, conflicts and disagreements persist

How many times do we have to sit and stare like a sentry
Why do we have to passively witness these issues without taking action?

It's the 21st century, check your modus vivendi
In this modern era, examine your way of life and mindset

Talking about progress come on tell me who's really ready
When discussing progress, who is truly prepared to make a change?

To face what we've been avoiding and widen your point of view
Confronting what we've been avoiding and expanding our perspectives

This is overdue but you folks really have no clue
These changes are long overdue, and many are oblivious to the need

As to who you've been avoiding
Ignoring the people you've been neglecting

Who you've been insulting or what it could result in
The impact of your insults and the consequences that may arise

But I think It's time we grew to
I believe it's time for personal growth and maturity

Let go of stereotypes that our ancestors have placed
Release the societal expectations and biases passed down through generations

Then maybe we’ll get past insignificant things like race
By doing so, we can move beyond the trivialities of race

If we can’t overcome that then we’ll always be on the chase
If we can't surpass these barriers, we'll perpetually be in pursuit of equality

Please listen to me though my words don't carry any weight
I appeal to you, even though my words may not hold much influence

Don't say that this is my fate
Do not label this struggle as my sole destiny

This might be the harsh reality that we're living in
Acknowledging the difficult truth of our current situation

But we don't have to bring it in for our children
We must strive for a better future for the sake of our children

Let's fight for less destruction and lay the path for more healing
Advocate for a decrease in harm and create a path towards reconciliation

Don't say you're leaving a legacy just to see others grieving
Do not aim to leave a negative impact that brings sorrow to others

Through these trying times don’t let my words be misconstrued
In challenging moments, let my words be understood correctly

God please grant us the courage, strength and fortitude
May we be given the bravery, resilience, and determination to overcome

Cleanse us of all the sins that we have accrued
Wash away the wrongdoings we have accumulated

Don't let this be the way that we conclude
Let this not be the end of our journey

Guide us down the path that you made for us to pursue
Lead us towards the path we are meant to follow

Let us say our prayers and rid us of this solitude
Grant us solace and unity through our prayers

Please let our kids flourish
Enable our children to thrive

Please ease them of this eternal feud
Relieve them from the burden of this ongoing conflict
