During Covid when every country was on lockdown and Tanzania wasn't, Tanzania played a big part for most of amapiano artist to come to Tanzania and perform in a club called Elements, I would say that Tanzania played a big part to the rise of Amapiano, i remember when we first booked the scorpion king which no one knew them by that time.

What Amapiano has done to music can never be undone. There’s no going back. With the DJ’s, the dance styles, social media trends and the fashion, it’s more than a musical genre. It’s a lifestyle. Hands down music’s most significant genre entry since Hip-Hop.

@Eli Alvah Come on now, I'm not on that "House is better than Amapiano" vibe. I've been listening to Amapiano for ages, since the Music was mixed in with U.K. Funky House sets.

Since I don't live in the country you're from, I can't state whether Amapiano has become mainstream. Over here in England, it's more of an Underground scene.

I never said House isn’t a great or significant genre. Of course it is. I spoke about impact on the music scene as a genre entry. This is not a House vs Amapiano thing. I don’t engage in that dumb nonsense.

All I’m saying is a genre hasn’t impacted pop culture on entry to the extent that Amapiano has, since Hip-Hop. If you can’t understand that without taking it to mean one is better than the other, then frankly you’re making your comprehension limitations my problem.

@Letsatsi Mvalathat may be. But Something Soweto's contribution in 2018 started a wave and started putting people who don't listen to piano on the genre. Broaden the writing and musicality of it in a way that no other artist did before. He's still influencal to the genre.

You can't talk amapiano and not mentioned Vigro Deep, he got knows how to rock the drums and made that grrrr drumline popular that everyone started to do it and found more ways to use it. This documentary should’ve included the likes of MFR Souls ,Josiah De Disciple ,Kabza De Small ,Kota Embassy ,busta 929 and Mpura.
These are the creatives who were pushing Amapiano back in 2015,2016,2017 when people didn’t believe in the movement .

When Datafilehost was the only link we were able to download their songs and mixtapes .

@cHAWELO3 Sowetans know that its not from Soweto no one ever claimed that. We all know it gaines massive traction and populatity when it hit Soweto. Amapiano is from Katlegong MFR Souls created it, Pitori has barcadi and contributed lyrically, Alex had a huge impact. Every township had its own contribution to it.

This is true but the origins will be disputed just because it's Mamelodi. It's definitely not from Soweto, which often gets the credit. And Soweto truly is a special township I must say as someone from Mamelodi. But artists from Pretoria have contributed heavily to what we know as piano musically and lyrically.
