Bathroom stalls for the powder nose (she loves)
High heel shoes with the open toes (she loves)
She's got a good time wrapped in gold (she loves)
For you, for you
All red dress with the devil eyes (she loves)
So obsessed with the camera lights (she loves)
You love her, but you can't deny (she loves)
The truth, the truth

She loves everybody
Can't you tell by the signs?
She loves everybody
She gets off all the time
It's a dark philosophy
And it haunts her constantly
It's a false alarm to me
She's a false alarm

False alarm (hey, hey, hey, hey)
False alarm (hey, hey, hey, hey)
False alarm (hey, hey, hey, hey, hey)
Alarm
False alarm (hey, hey, hey, hey)
False alarm (hey, hey, hey, hey)
False alarm (hey, hey, hey, hey, hey)

Six inch long, 'bout three inch wide (she loves)
Dolla, dolla bill is her only type (she loves)
You love her but you'll never be (she loves)
The one, the one
Diamonds and the rings are her fantasy (she loves)
She chase hearts with the Hennessy (she loves)
You love her, but you'll never be (she loves)
Enough, enough

She loves everybody (oh)
Can't you tell by the signs?
She loves everybody (oh)
She gets off all the time
It's a dark philosophy (dark philosophy)
And it haunts her constantly (haunts her constantly)
She's a false alarm to me (false alarm)
She's a false alarm

False alarm (hey, hey, hey, hey)
False alarm (hey, hey, hey, hey)
False alarm (hey, hey, hey, hey, hey)
Alarm
False alarm (hey, hey, hey, hey)
False alarm (hey, hey, hey, hey)
False alarm (hey, hey, hey, hey, hey)

She always leaves the man she loves
But the diamonds are forever
She always seems to be alone
But the diamonds make it better

False alarm (hey, hey, hey, hey)
False alarm (hey, hey, hey, hey)
False alarm (hey, hey, hey, hey, hey)
Alarm
False alarm (hey, hey, hey, hey, ooh)

False alarm (hey, hey, hey, hey, ooh)
False alarm (hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, ooh)

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "False Alarm" by The Weeknd paint a vivid picture of a woman who is self-indulgent, materialistic, and constantly seeking attention. The song begins by describing her in a bathroom stall, indulging in drugs, while also highlighting her glamorous appearance with high-heeled shoes and a captivating red dress. She seemingly thrives on the attention she receives from others, particularly in front of the camera.

The chorus emphasizes her indiscriminate love for everybody, indicated by the signs that are evident to those around her. She seeks constant gratification and derives pleasure from various sources, implying a reckless and hedonistic lifestyle. The lyrics allude to the notion that this behavior is embedded in her character, haunting her incessantly, suggesting that she is aware of the negative impact it may have on her life.

The second verse introduces her preference for material possessions, specifically money and luxury items. The mention of dollar bills and the pursuit of diamonds and rings reflects her obsession with wealth and material status. Despite being loved by someone, the lyrics imply that she will never truly reciprocate those feelings, always searching for something or someone better. She is portrayed as constantly desiring more, leaving those who love her unsatisfied.

The chorus reiterates her indiscriminate love for everyone and her constant search for pleasure. The dark philosophy that haunts her and the notion that she is a false alarm to the singer convey the idea that her actions and desires are ultimately empty and unfulfilling. The repetition of "false alarm" in the chorus serves as a reminder that the facade and excitement she presents are temporary and ultimately deceptive.

Finally, the lyrics touch upon her pattern of leaving the men she loves, suggesting that her focus on material possessions, particularly diamonds, takes precedence over genuine connection and companionship. The diamonds are portrayed as a faรงade, temporarily filling the void in her life. Despite her constant pursuit of pleasure and material wealth, she remains alone, implying a sense of emptiness and dissatisfaction with her choices.

Overall, "False Alarm" delves into the themes of superficiality, materialism, and the emptiness that can result from an obsession with appearances and instant gratification. The Weeknd provides a critique on the consequences of living a life solely driven by these desires.

This has been my favorite breakup song. My ex was mentally physically and emotionally abuse and if i wasnt giving her enough money she would find a way to do one of the 3 abuses against me knowing i would absolutely not hit her back, and i would rarely say hurtful things back know that my words are real punches to the gut thanks to be bullied and military experience. I left her 4 months ago after i finally had enough after 5 years. Thank God we have poets that can still write banger music
