CRUCIFY ME
BROCKHAMPTON Lyrics

Brutalize me again
The weight of the world rests on my shoulder
Day by day, only getting older
Perfect timing, I guess
Let's rewind and pretend
That we both knew what we were in for
Way back when, if you remember
Snakes in the glass that's like half full, I want it
My great grandma told y'all that we was gon' be a lot of trouble
Way before I was born, man, some time had to pass
'Til my auntie stole from the subway, ayy, they was living fast
I crashed before I even have a drink
My lowest points were formed standing at the sink
I gotta hide these tears just like a G
My niggas cannot see me, dawg
You and me, NYC, finna be on TV, dawg
It's like la-la when I'm all alone
Gimme, gimme bags, want your bags and your purse
Gimme, gimme (?)
Gimme, gimme (?)
I feel like I'm playin' the field
Like I'm blending in too much
In this motherfucking town, town, town
I feel like I'm playin' the field
Like I'm blending, blending, blending
Blending, am I just like you?
Dusty wallet
I want your name, so print it on me
Don't have to know me to put it on me
I got strong shoulders for all you fuckers
Go out to town with the miss and gossip
Don't like to add, I just sit in silence
Fuck all the fake, I want naturales
I want some property by the ocean
GPS don't even see the road end
Back when we kicked it on driveway
Even in pain, we were blase
Lit in the world and just highway
Water so cold I would dive in
I know your baby just called me
Thinking 'bout money, it's all good
Thinking 'bout money, it's all good, yeah
Crucify me, amen
Brutalize me again
The weight of the world rests on my shoulder
Day by day, only getting older
Perfect timing, I guess
Let's rewind and pretend
That we both knew what we were in for
Way back when, if you remember
The lyrics of "Crucify Me" by BROCKHAMPTON explore themes of vulnerability, the burdens of life, and the complexities of relationships. The opening lines, "Crucify me, amen, Brutalize me again, The weight of the world rests on my shoulder, Day by day, only getting older," depict a sense of feeling weighed down by the pressures and challenges of existence. The repetition of being crucified and brutalized suggests a deep emotional pain and suffering.
The lyrics also touch on the idea of nostalgia and reflecting on the past, with the lines "Let's rewind and pretend, That we both knew what we were in for, Way back when, if you remember." This can be interpreted as a longing for simpler times or a desire to go back to a time when things were easier or more understood.
The verse then shifts to personal experiences and memories, such as a family history of trouble and the singer's own struggles and mistakes. The mention of "Snakes in the glass that's like half full" could represent the presence of deceit or betrayal within their surroundings. The lyrics also touch on the pressure to appear strong and hide one's emotions, with lines like "I gotta hide these tears just like a G, My niggas cannot see me, dawg."
Overall, "Crucify Me" delves into the struggles of navigating life's challenges, the yearning for simpler times, and the internal conflict between vulnerability and appearing strong.

I can’t remember the last time I fell in love with a song the very first time I heard it. This is stunning, been on repeat. The boys outdid themselves one last time.
