(1) The U.S. Baby Lemonade formed in 1992 in Los Angeles. They are contemporaries of the Wondermints and The Negro Problem, and consist of guitarists Rusty Squeezebox and Mike Randle, bassist Dave Chapple, and drummer David Green. They have released three albums of southern-Californian power pop, but are also known for touring with Arthur Lee for many years as the last line-up of his band Love.
(2) The British Baby Lemonade formed in 1986. Within a few months they were recording demos and released the song “Jiffy Neckwear Creation” on flexi-disc (with The Bachelor Pad’s “Girl of Your Dreams”), which became Sounds magazine’s “Record of the Week” in February 1987. The original band line-up only played a handful of gigs, with the debut gig in Edinburgh (December 1986) consisting of three original numbers plus two covers, then the first number was repeated! The “Secret Goldfish” / “Real World” single (produced by Douglas Hart of The Jesus and Mary Chain fame) was released on 27 June 1987 and spent five weeks in the NME indie single charts, reaching #9. After some line-up changes the album One Thousand Secrets followed in late 1988.

Don't want to settle down
Work all day
Sell that sound
Hollywood, so vicious and afraid
The 304, the girl next-door
Perhaps, we'll meet once again
Trigger happy singers drawing straws
America we gave you all our best
Best regards, no cigar
Perhaps we'll meet once again
You're on your own
You're almost home
All alone
California city behind bars
We lock up all our stars
Amsterdam give me back my heart
Been so long I fell apart
Perhaps we'll meet once again
These lyrics from Baby Lemonade's song "Once Again" express a sense of restlessness and frustration with the music industry, particularly the ruthless nature of Hollywood. The singer doesn't want to be tied down to a desk job, and instead spends their day selling music. The line "the 304, the girl next-door" could refer to a specific place or person, but could also be a metaphor for familiarity and comfort that the singer longs for.
The chorus of "Perhaps we'll meet once again" suggests a sense of nostalgia or longing for a time or place that has been lost. The following lines about trigger happy singers drawing straws and the role of artist and repertoire reflect a cynicism about the music industry and its potential to exploit and devalue artists. The singer laments America's failure to appreciate the "best" that has been given to it, and signs off with the hope of meeting someone again.
Overall, the song expresses a mixture of frustration, nostalgia, and disillusionment with the music industry.
