One album on Germany's SPV label and several for the UK-based Delerium/Molten Records saw the band tour vigorously in Europe, but one day Lorenzo got tired of sitting behind the drums, so he embarked on a solo project he decided to call Baby Woodrose (named after the Hawaiian flower).
Lorenzo, playing all the instruments himself, recorded 15 songs in less than a week and released an album on his own label. Four years later, Baby Woodrose, now a trio, have released numerous 7" singles and 4 full-lengths (a live album and a full cover/tribute album) on the independent label Bad Afro Records.
In 2004, Baby Woodrose was nominated for a Danish Music Award (didnβt win it!). The band went on to win Danish National Radioβs most-sought-after award, the P3 Gold Award. Among several European tours were a much-talked-about appearance on Roskilde Festivalβs main stage, a βnot so goodβ drug bust in Norway, and collaborations with some of Scandinaviaβs most-recognized rock bands.
Now in 2006, the trio are ready to release their most ambitious effort yet, the album "Love Comes Down." It will be released as a joint venture between the band's own label, Spinello, and Scandinavia's premier alternative-music distributor, Playground Music.
The album has been a long time coming, and we can now let you in on a little secret: Some sassy rock 'n' roll is on its way! The trio have expended their palette ever so slightly; this album features both sugar-sharp bubble-gum punk and the broken-manβs heartache on bitter skewers of citric acid!
It sounds as though it had been cut with the macabre precision of a surgeon with a buzz saw! The album was recorded in Copenhagen and Helsinki and was produced by German expatriate JΓΌrgen Hendlmeier in the Land of the Thousand Lakes. Stone-cold, yet sexy and very contagious!
Roses
Baby Woodrose Lyrics

When the truth is you gave it away
You've been selling yourself short
And now you're dragging your ball and chain
You're building your own cage
Laying roses on your own grave
You can tell your girlfriend to snuff it
Well, it's just another nail in your coffin
If you think it's all just a game
You can make your way to the window
See what tomorrow holds in store
But it's just like chasing your shadow
If you think it's not your own fault
The song "Roses" by Baby Woodrose is a reflective and contemplative piece that critiques the idea that we can easily lose our freedom by blaming external factors or others for our situation when in reality, we ourselves may have let it happen. The opening line "So now you're asking who stole your freedom, when the truth is you gave it away" sets the tone for the song's message. The lyrics suggest that rather than scapegoating others for our lack of freedom or control over our lives, we should instead take responsibility for our actions and choices.
The song's protagonist is depicted as someone who is currently in a difficult and restrictive situation, where they are "dragging [their] ball and chain" and "building [their] own cage." However, they are reminded that they have played a role in creating this environment for themselves, and are now "laying roses on [their] own grave." This can be interpreted as a symbol for accepting the consequences of one's actions, even if that leads to a negative outcome.
The second verse continues the theme of self-destruction, as the singer is encouraged to reconsider their actions and habits that can contribute to their dire situation. The line "You can tell your girlfriend to snuff it / And then convince yourself how you've changed" suggests a self-destructive pattern of behavior, where one may cut off people or things in their lives, but still fail to address their issues. The verse then concludes with a warning that this attitude is only leading to further decline or self-sabotage.
Overall, the song's lyrics advocate for taking responsibility for our lives and the consequences of our actions, rather than placing the blame on other people or circumstances.
