Richardson permanently rejoined the group in 2012. In the following year, they celebrated their 20th anniversary and released their first independent album, In a World Like This. Their follow-up album DNA (2019) debuted at number one, more than two decades after the group formed and 19 years after they last topped in 2000. They also became the first boy band to top the U.S. album charts in three different decades.
The Backstreet Boys have sold over 100 million records worldwide, making them the best-selling boy band of all time, and one of the world's best-selling music artists. Crawling Back to You
Backstreet Boys Lyrics

And baby I was wrong
And yeah I know I said we'd be better off alone
It was time that we moved on
I know I broke your heart, I didn't mean to break your heart
But baby here I am, banging on your front door
My pride spilled on the floor
I'm begging for a second chance
Are you gonna let me in?
I was running from the truth and now I'm crawling back to you.
I know you aren't there and you can make me wait, but I'm not gonna wait
It's the that least I could do, just to tell you face to face
I was lying to myself, now I'm dying in this hell
Girl I know you're mad
I can't blame you for being mad
But baby here I am, banging on your front door
My pride spilled on the floor
My hands and knees are bruised and now I'm crawling back to you
I'm begging for a second chance
Are you gonna let me in?
I was running from the truth and now I'm crawling back to you
If you could see these tears I'm crying
Touch these hands that can't stop shaking
Hear the heart that's barely beating, you would see a different man
But baby here I am, banging on your front door
My pride spilled on the floor
My hands and knees are bruised and I'm crawling back to you
I'm begging for a second chance
Are you gonna let me in?
I was running from the truth and now I'm crawling back to you
The song “Crawling Back to You” by the Backstreet Boys is a heartfelt ballad about a man realizing his mistake in letting go of the person he loves and begging for a second chance. The lyrics reveal that the man knows he was a fool for letting her go and that he regrets it deeply. He had convinced himself that they would be better off alone, but now he knows he was wrong, and it is time to move on by crawling back to her, even if he has to do so on his hands and knees, bruised and battered from the journey.
The lyrics also express the singer’s remorse for breaking her heart, even though he didn’t mean to. He acknowledges that he was running from the truth, but now he is ready to face it and be honest with her. He is aware that she might be angry with him, but he is willing to face her and accept the consequences of his actions. The song ends with the singer pleading for a second chance, asking if she will let him in and apologizing for his mistakes.
Overall, “Crawling Back to You” is a poignant and vulnerable song about admitting one’s faults and seeking forgiveness. The haunting melody and emotional vocals convey the depth of the singer’s remorse and make the song a powerful tribute to the human experience of love and loss.
