Their original lead singer, Tommy Vext, was dismissed from the band in January 2021 on account of his political beliefs and accusations of violence against him. House of Cards
Bad Wolves Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴
But I don't wanna know and I don't want those scars
Leave it up to God
Remember that he might not care at all
Galaxies aren't far
But in reality, we will be torn apart
Leave it up to God
I don't wanna wait, I don't wanna go
I don't wanna wait, I don't wanna go
I don't wanna wait, I don't wanna go
I don't wanna wait, I don't wanna go
Black lungs
Dark matter comes
Hold on
Better than an outcome
You can never outrun
We land on
This house of cards
It's your fault
Better than an outcome
You can never outrun
It's like crashing cars
But if the violent shows they always get applause
Does your heart need start?
Sewn forever might get pulled apart
Is there a point at all
You get back what you gave and then it's gone
Sell it all for parts
'Cause forever might get pulled apart
I don't wanna wait, I don't wanna go
I don't wanna wait, I don't wanna go
I don't wanna wait, I don't wanna go
I don't wanna wait, I don't wanna go
Black lungs
Dark matter comes
Hold on
Better than an outcome
You can never outrun
We land on
This house of cards
It's your fault
Better than an outcome
You can never outrun
Better than an outcome
You can never outrun
I will stop the sun
Fall out
Better than an outcome
You can never outrun
Black lungs
Dark matter comes
Hold on
Black lungs
Dark matter comes
Hold on
Better than an outcome
You can never outrun
We land on
This house of cards
It's your fault
Better than an outcome
You can never outrun
Better than an outcome
Better than an outcome
Better than an outcome
You can never outrun
The lyrics of "House of Cards" by Bad Wolves touch upon themes of existential questioning, the ephemeral nature of life, and the uncertainties that come with it. The song opens with the singer expressing a sense of futility in aiming for unreachable heights ("Shooting at the stars"), yet being wary of the potential emotional wounds that accompany such pursuits. The reference to leaving things up to God implies a surrender to fate and a recognition that divine intervention may not always align with human desires.
The mention of galaxies being near, but the impending reality of being torn apart reflects the contradictions present in life's dualities, where the vastness of the universe contrasts with the intimacy of personal struggles. Despite the plea to leave it up to God, there is an acknowledgment that divine indifference may prevail. The repetitive lines "I don't wanna wait, I don't wanna go" underscore a sense of urgency and resistance towards the transient nature of existence.
The imagery of "black lungs" and "dark matter" conveys a sense of heaviness and obscurity, hinting at the weight of consequences and unseen forces at play. The metaphor of a "house of cards" symbolizes the fragile and precarious nature of life, built on unstable foundations that can easily collapse. The line "It's your fault" adds a layer of personal responsibility amid the chaos, suggesting accountability in the face of adversity.
The verses further delve into the paradoxes of violence being glorified and hearts being susceptible to both connection and rupture. The questioning of the purpose behind one's actions and the transient nature of possessions emphasizes the impermanence of earthly pursuits. The repeated assertion that "you can never outrun" hints at the inevitability of facing the repercussions of one's choices and the inescapable march of time. Ultimately, the song conveys a sense of resignation mixed with defiance, highlighting the struggle to find meaning in a world filled with uncertainties and contradictions.

Good to see the support on here. Nice to know that we can all enjoy both Bad Wolves' and Tommy's music no matter what side of that debate we individually land on. Everyone keep rockin

I wish that were the same for countless former "fans" still lurking on their Facebook page. The hateful, unsupportive comments makes me wanna cuss each and every hater out. But here on YouTube, it's the exact opposite. Thank you and everyone here for proving me wrong. For proving me that Bad Wolves still has strong supporters like us in their pack howling for them. šŗ š¤š¤š¤š¤š¤

@Hector Collazo I feel ya man, I'm stoked on the new tracks they've put out and I think their new singer is badass, it's been on repeat for months. Tommy's released some new clips on his IG and it sounds awesome too, I saw him live last year and he kicked ass.
