Angeline Is Coming Home
Badlees Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Her parents house exudes a reborn air
The bathtub virgins in the midnight air
Seem to smile in celebration
What an intercession
All inertia washed away

[Chorus]
Resplendent in dignity
Angeline is coming home

I'd fantasize her clean and home again
The quintessential reverie free of pain
Just to keep from going crazy
While the cracks had claimed her
And how that fantasy sustained

[Chorus]

The beautiful acquaintance
I desired has inspired me
To levels unforeseen
True admiration for someone who's
Made it back from the hell she was in

When do I see her?
What say when I do?
Do I let fantasized ideals come through?
To hear her laugh at my hyperbole would send me...
It's nice to have her home and whole

[Chorus]

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Badlees's song Angeline Is Coming Home evoke a sense of relief and joy at the return of a loved one who had gone through a difficult phase in life. The opening lines describe the atmosphere around the home of Angeline's parents, which is filled with a feeling of rebirth and new beginnings. The use of the word "dignity" suggests that Angeline's journey back to her loved ones has been marked by a sense of self-respect and a refusal to be defeated by her struggles.

The song also explores the singer's emotions and thoughts about Angeline's return. He admits to fantasizing about her coming back home and being free of pain, as a way of coping with his own feelings of helplessness and frustration. A jewel of forgotten 90s hits. They were so underrated!

@1959blee

Damn, how did we all get so old? Thank God the music and the hair never does!

One of my favs from back in the day. Been a fan of these guys since the 90's. The guitarist/vocalist (Bret Alexander) actually helped master and recorded bass on my solo album. Great guy and great band. Thanks for the all the feel-good tunes fellas.

@Tamra_77

The Last Shoegazer OMG! Me too! I just randomly did a search for them! My husband and I have seen them quite a few times. We drive (from Wisconsin) to Pennsylvania once to see them. They invited us to a party back in their hotel room.
The tall blond guy... who’s name is escaping me right now... grabbed me and kissed me..stuck his tongue halfway down my throat 😛 we had the best time. So glad I found them.
Someplace I have a poster I took off the wall. 😂
