+cole wolfe I know David quite well, and he is a great person. Others, like myself, who like balloons have never lost their jobs just because of something that we choose to like, including friends David and I know who are in many professions and teaching; David was in the military, and they knew of his quirk quite well for a long time. They never dismissed him because having such a quirk does not preclude a person from doing their job performance.

It is far better than drugs, and he is not harming anyone at all. The media took advantage of him and changed around some things to make him look bad. People have taken him way too literally, when it was actually to be symbolic and figurative. The sad part is that people choose to judge first instead of seeking the source to understand the whole picture first.

Thank you. I've loved Balloons since I was 4 years old, I tried to out grow it, but I couldn't, so I gave up and accepted it when I was 8 years old. I couldn't go on TV like that guy did, it did take a lot of guts! For many years I wondered if I was the only one who felt that way about Balloons, thank G-d for the internet, now I know I'm not alone. Like this guy I hate to see Balloons popped.

No one "has to be prepared" for any kind of negative drama/criticism. How would you feel if I judged you (which is a form of bullying and verbal harassment) just because you have a different quirk or kink than I do? It is best to treat others the way you want to be treated yourself--it shows respect. Dave got the courage to stand up for non-popping, yet lots of folks took him way too literally since his intentions were actually symbolic. Balloons are a harmless fetish.

All of you, please quit picking on my friend, Dave. He is who he is. If he loves to non-pop balloons, then please let him be. People should not hurt him like this, and it is not any of your right to judge him just because he copes differently to popping. He is not hurting anyone, and he has right to be who he is. He has a lot of guts standing up for non-poppers because the last balloon documentary was highly biased toward poppers (and the sexual side), and that type of bias is just plain wrong.

Reminds me of me and my cigarette ads. I've collected cigarette ads since I was 9 or 10 years old; I'm 50 now. Although I'm not necessarily so "pure" with my cigarette ads... I've had years, decades, of therapy... depression, depression-related disorders is what they say. I'm also transgendered. How some of us develop some special significant meaning for unusual objects? I can't say much for sure... IMHO, it's just another indicator of the vast variation inherent in the human species.

My mom always told me when I was little to accept everyone, and I've always tried to do that. As I've gotten older, I'm learning people take all forms.
