I watch a lot of youtube, and this is the only channel I can think of seeing that clearly and deliberately posts age restriction warnings. So, the parent complaint that stimulated the investigation is frustrating. The ad was inappropriate for them, sure, but the channel had already made it obvious the video containing the ad was not appropriate for younger ages.

The second surf shark one that got pulled is the one that REALLY irritates me. I can kinda get where the first one was a bit much, but I saw the second one when it came out, and frankly, it really wasn't all that bad. Especially given, as mentioned, who the fuck parents are giving their kids unrestricted access to YouTube/the internet? The moment people stop parenting their children is the exact moment it becomes everyone else's problem. And that's not a problem everyone else had an active decision in signing up for let alone being thrust upon them. Time to start being an adult. It takes literally zero effort to make sure they're not looking at inappropriate content; its literally a 5min exercise. Tablets are not a substitute for absentee parenting.

I'm glad I got to see that ad before it got pulled down. It was hilarious, and while I can sorta understand why it got taken down, given the context behind it, the audience was in on the joke, at least assuming they were of the recommended age for the overall video. Idk, I get why surf shark approved it, because it became such an inside joke it just worked well for the channel (but I also do get why the ASA stepped in nonetheless, given that out of context, it could be seen as coercion, just in context it's known to be a joke)

Edit: also, videos like this are why surfshark re-ups with you. Say what you want about their ad approval people, but you really can't argue with the results of basically getting a free year end infomercial just to discuss the hilarity surrounding the ads themselves. I'd normally never watch a 30 minute ad read, but 30 minutes of TomSka discussing his exploits with surf shark VPN, hell yeah I'm in. And enjoying it!

Edit 2: also, on the second ad, piss-off ASA. I get the direct threat issue, but FFS that one wasn't even all that bad. Have they ever read A Modest Proposal, for instance? Or maybe watched an old cartoon...

Honestly, seeing everything that has happened made me feel shocked and surprised at the same time (especially the whole trying to find the breaking point scenario.)

Also, your skits videos for Surfshark are definitely very well creative! My personal favorite for these skits segments is the “Welcome to the Internet” skit segment. That segment from the “Weird Words EXPLAINED” video that came out on April Fools Day, is absolutely very well made and very well creative! I like it. And the whole arms cut off part was VERY unexpected, hold moly!

Also, the twist from “Dear Surfshark, Please Fire Me” to “Dear Surfshark, Please Forgive Me” is an interesting twist

Honestly, this series has given Surfshark so much advertising on top of the actual ads, and their taking everything so well honestly has me likely switching to Surfshark when my 3 year Nord sub runs out in April
