The ensemble consists of four clarinets, three trumpets, a tambora, a tarola, a tuba (Sousaphone style), three trombones, and three singers.
Banda el Recodo was founded by Don Cruz Lizárraga from Sinaloa, Mexico. Although he had to drop out of high school to work, Lizárraga was an excellent bandleader and musician. Self-taught on the clarinet, he was forced to sell one of his hogs to pay for his new musical instrument. Once he moved to Mazatlán, Sinaloa, Lizarraga signed a deal with RCA Victor and soon formed Banda el Recodo. Since his death in 1995, Lizarraga's son has taken over the group and undertaken extensive international tours. Today, Banda el Recodo continues to be one of the most famous and most popular Mexican folk music bands of all time

Y nunca mas vendrá, la primavera
Y aunque mi corazon te espera
Se que no volverá el amor
Es por eso que no vivo mas.
El agua de los ríos se detendrá
El cielo no tendrá ningún color
Desde que me dejaste solo
Existo pero ya no vivo mas.
Una lagrima por tu amor
Una lagrima llorare
Brotara de mi corazon
Te quise tanto que
Tal vez nunca te olvidare
Fuiste el primer amor
Y no volverás.
Ay amor
Como sufro
Chiquitita
Una flor sin roció, morirá
Y nunca mas vendrá, la primavera
Y aunque mi corazon te espera
Se que no volverá el amor
Y es por eso que no vivo mas.
Una lagrima por tu amor
Una lagrima llorare
Que saldrá de mi corazon
Te quise tanto que
Tal vez nunca te olvidare
Fuiste el primer amor
Y no volverás
No volverás.
The song Una Lagrima by Banda El Recodo is a heartfelt ballad about lost love and the pain of moving on. The opening line sets the tone for the song's message, as it compares a flower without dew to a life without love, both of which are devoid of the essential nourishment needed to thrive. The lyrics go on to express the futility of waiting for a love that will never return, acknowledging that the singer's heart may hold out hope, but their head knows the reality of the situation. The song's melody is a melancholic waltz, and the slow tempo adds to the emotional weight of the lyrics.
The second stanza contains some striking imagery, as the singer envisions a world without color or movement, now that their love has ended. The metaphor of the river's water stopping emphasizes the gravity of the loss and the feeling that everything has ground to a halt. The chorus repeats the song's title, and the tears shed for the lost love are a poignant reminder of the depth of feeling being explored in the song. The final lines express both a sense of resignation regarding the lost love and a lingering attachment to the memory of it.
Overall, Una Lagrima is a lament for a love that has gone, and the lyrics evoke a sense of longing and sadness that many listeners will relate to. The song's use of metaphor and imagery is effective, and the melody and arrangement all add to the poignant feel of the piece.
