1) A well known hardcore band similar to The Bronx from Detroit, Michigan. Formed in 2004, are now on an indefinite hiatus after playing their 'last' show in September 2005, though have played numerous 'reunion' shows around Detroit since.
"And for all their brutal, uninhibited rage there is an undeniable sense of intelligence and craft to the music. These are musicians who have studied songs, genres, subtleties and have made the choice to push them all over the edge. But beneath the violence of the delivery the band manages to hit on that indefinable sweet spot that brings the best of pop songs to life; the same thing that made the Replacements and the Clash great; a thing that triggers some part of the brain and makes it immediately memorable and reactive." -- S. Hoen
"Most bands just sound like they're going through the motions when placed next to Bang Bang, who sound like they're going to leap out of the grooves of this single and trash your house." -- Daniel / deepfrybonanza.com
"The members of Bang Bang have a boy-eyed innocence and this inalienable enthusiasm to entertain; they have big, often droll ideas wrapped in short scorching blasts, and play them as if they just made up the whole punk rock DIY thing last week. They are beguilingly sincere, if not downright elated to be playing at all." -- Brian Smith / Metro Times

2) "Fusing an inverted post-punk, glam damaged, shimmering fuzz rock schematic with a carbonized cake made from 1978 remapped: Bang! Bang! was birthed in 2002, all wiry whiplash dance punk in a town (Chicago) known for post-rock gurus that no one heeds anymore. Gretta Fine (Vocals, Bass) is pallid, sex-roiling, and unearthly, no gimmicks-- Jackie Flash (Vocals, Guitar) is the hormone heaving, slinky Italian captain of libido, while Nick Kraska (Drums) is the flexing and debauched moist rythmic king beneath it all as part time member Rachel Shindelman (Keyboards) has become the muse on many songs, sculpting the language and liquored lips of the band. So, welcome to the new pleasure dome, where the Bang! Bang! exhibition never stops." - David Ensminger, Left Of The Dial 07'

Sex Beat
Bang! Bang! Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Just like I hate this song
I don't want to try and get along
You're a shockwave
And I crumble in your wake
Think I'll be back
Well just keep holding your breath
Already ain't enough time
I owe you nothing
So thirsty
Thirsty for the cure
I don't want you and your fake allure
You're a bullet train
That's never gonna stop
I'm leaping off now
I'll take my chances with the ground
Already ain't enough time
Why you wanna be wastin' all mine
I own you nothing
The lyrics to Bang! Bang!'s song Sex Beat convey a sense of anger and frustration towards someone who is perceived as a negative influence. The singer expresses a strong dislike towards this person and compares them to the dislike they have for their own song. They refuse to try and get along with this individual and don't hesitate to let them know how they feel. The person is described as a "shockwave" that causes the singer to crumble in their presence. Despite this, the singer feels like this individual expects them to come back and begs them to keep holding their breath.
The lyrics go on to convey a sense of detachment and indifference towards the individual. The singer acknowledges that they have nothing to offer this person and feels like they are wasting their time. They describe themselves as "thirsty for the cure," suggesting that they are seeking an escape from this negative influence. The person is described as a bullet train that's never going to stop, whereas the singer decides to leap off and take their chances with the ground. The lyrics close on a defiant note, with the singer asserting that they owe the person nothing.
