Speedway Sonora
Banks & Steelz Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
He didn't think that I would pull it
Tried to block the path I was headed
I'm tryin' to get back on my good foot
They scratching the back of the good book
Shit little nigga that's a good look
Black hooded
40 acres of land developed, 40 acres wooded
Follow the rainbow, a pot to cook with
I'll call Paul to Bank it
40 tails up at the banquet
Plus he had Snow White's blanket
All they talk was body language
Don't prison the pauper
They both got vanquished
T-t-t-time to die, we causin' damage
Speedway Sonora
It's just somewhere to fly
It's just a sky like
Armies race
Somewhere way up high
On the sight lines
The concrete
All the ways (Speedway)
Everyday
Everyday
Ay yo
I paved the path many warriors walk on
Black hawk and my plague is stomped on
Lightning bolt strikes the horizon
Deep in the woods spent time with the wise men
Slightly on site and my chi energy, it keeps on risin'
Bob the Huntsman, sip tiger bone (hahaha)
Bob the Huntsman, sip tiger bone
Bob the Huntsman, sip tiger bone (hahaha)
Speedway Sonora
It's just somewhere to fly
It's just a sky like
Armies race
Somewhere way up high
On the sight lines
The concrete
All the way
We say it's alright
I wonder where you hide
Across the sky
No boundaries babe
It's just a read you lie
Summer's wide eyed
Bomb bombardier
All the way
Everyday
Speedway Sonora
It's just somewhere to fly
Across the sky like
Found dream state
I wonder where you hide
It's always bright light
Surrounding
All the way
Speedway

It's just somewhere to fly
It's just a sky like
Armies race
Somewhere way up high
There's always bright lights shining
On me

The song is cluttered with abstract imagery and metaphors, but it appears to be about the struggles of trying to navigate through life and facing obstacles that get in your way. The lyrics "I shot the wolf with a silver bullet, he didn't think that I would pull it" implies defeating something that was trying to stop you. Banks & Steelz then touches on societal issues with lines such as "So much wrong we don't know where to put it" and "Follow the rainbow, a pot to cook with", suggesting a yearning for change in society. The chorus "Speedway Sonora, It's just somewhere to fly" could be interpreted as a metaphor for escapism or a desire to flee from problems.
The song then goes on to touch on themes of spirituality and nature, with lyrics such as "Deep in the woods spent time with the wise men" and "Slightly on site and my chi energy, it keeps on risin'". The line "Bob the Huntsman, sip tiger bone" is a reference to an old Asian tradition, where tigers were believed to represent strength, power, and fierceness.

Glad to hear RZA rapping again.
@dezertbanditz
Me too yo. He really didn't rap much on last two Wu albums and Digi Snacks was in 08. This is a great collaboration.

I had to buy this album since I own all of Interpol`s and Paul`s solo albums. I also think the idea of having such a talent as Paul ( my favorite artist) and such a Legend like RZA collaborating was brilliant.
