In 2005, the group disbanded and Almalbis went on to pursue a solo career, while Rommel dela Cruz soon became the bassist of Freestyle (the original bassist migrated to Australia).
Hungry Young Poets (aka HYP) was founded in the Philippines as a duo in 1997 by Barbie Almalbis (guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter) and Ricci Gurango (bassist). After releasing their one self-titled album, Franklin Benitez (drummer) would officially complete the trio.
In 1998, Gurango left the band to lead cover band, Little Green Men,[1], before forming MOJOFLY. With Gurango's assertion of rights to the band's name, Almalbis and Benitez would later rename the group, Barbie's Cradle.

Might I be the only one
Who sleeps through melodies of morning
while they wake
This chirping lullaby
Brings my little dreams to life
In my sanctuary I become a child
So goodbye to the sun
Goodnight
All pain will be gone for a while
A while, goodnight
Heaven's windows are the stars
You were watching me from where you are
But we're divided by the light
When morning starts
So goodbye to the sun
Goodnight
All pain will be gone for a while
A while, goodnight
Goodbye to the sun
Goodnight
All pain will be gone for a while
A while
Goodbye to the sun
Goodnight
All pain will be gone for a while
A while, goodnight
Goodnight
Goodnight
Goodnight
The song "Goodnyt" by Barbie's Cradle is a song that speaks about finding solace in the darkness of night. The songwriter seems to be one who is not a morning person, as she describes being one of the few who "sleeps through melodies of morning while they wake." Her "sanctuary", which is likely her bedroom, is a place where she can be at peace and indulge in her dreams. She finds comfort in the chirping of crickets and other nocturnal animals as they sing her a "lullaby" that puts her in a childlike state. This innocence and childlike state of mind is a powerful defense against the pains of the world, which she acknowledges will be "gone for a while" during the night.
The chorus of the song repeats the phrase "Goodbye to the sun, goodnight" multiple times, which reinforces the idea that the songwriter finds comfort in the night and the darkness it brings. She sees the stars as "heaven's windows" and even feels watched over by someone, likely someone who has passed away, as they watch her from beyond the grave. The dividing force of the light of the morning seems to be a poignant reminder of the ever-changing nature of life itself.
