Barbra Streisand has recorded more than 60 albums, almost all with Columbia Records. Her early works in the 1960s (her debut The Barbra Streisand Album which won two Grammy Awards in 1963, followed by The Second Barbra Streisand Album, The Third Album, My Name Is Barbra, etc.) are considered classic renditions of theater and nightclub standards, including her version of Happy Days Are Here Again. Beginning with My Name Is Barbra, her albums were often medley-filled keepsakes of her television specials.
Starting in 1969, Streisand tackled contemporary songwriters; like many talented singers of the day, she found herself a fish out of water in attempts to tackle rock, but her vocal talents prevailed and she gained newfound success with the pop and ballad-oriented Richard Perry-produced album Stoney End in 1971. The title track, written by Laura Nyro, was a big hit for Streisand.
Streisand's 1980 album, Guilty featured the songwriting, production and vocal talents of Barry Gibb and was the best-selling album of her recording career. During the 1970s, she was also highly prominent in the pop charts, with number-one records like The Way We Were, Evergreen, No More Tears (Enough Is Enough) (her duet with Donna Summer), and Woman In Love; some of these came from soundtracks of her films. She recently took part in supporting Haiti in singing "We are the World 25th anniversary.
When the 1970s ended, Streisand was named the most successful female singer in the U.S. - only Elvis Presley and The Beatles having sold more albums. [1]

I was there too! Amazingly I got to watch them rehearse this while I stood at the curtains. I saw everybody there, because everybody was there, along with a nobody like me, amazingly 😉

I was there that night! Really! It was the 1992 Commitment to Life event celebrating Barbra and David Geffen for their efforts to combat AIDS. I bought tickets the minute they went on sale--$50 for the back row of the Universal Amphitheater, which seems hilariously cheap to me now considering the talent that was on display that night. The songs were all from 'West Side Story.' Barbra had not performed before a paying crowd (aside from her '86 fundraiser) in decades so the excitement in the air was off the charts. Liza Minnelli came out and sang (I'm mortified to admit that I can't 100% recall what. I think it may have been "A Boy Like That.") Anyway, after she finished at the far edge of the stage she faced the opposite direction and blew a kiss. About 4 seconds later Barbra stepped out into a single spotlight. The place went APESHIT. I remember feeling sorry for Barbra because the audience wouldn't stop screaming and it was clear she didn't quite know what to do with herself. You can see the rest here. Her speech immediately following was incendiary. She tore into Bush 1 for his neglect in addressing AIDS. It was a night I will never ever forget.

Wow! Thank you! It's great to know what was happening that night! This song was released in 1993 in Back to Broadway album, so no one had ever heard of it except you audience to hear it first! And under the circumstance that Barbra hadn't sing live for decades! Must be very exciting at that moment! People would have been wowed by hearing her beautiful live singing voice I assume... Wish I were there!
