Barbra Streisand has recorded more than 60 albums, almost all with Columbia Records. Her early works in the 1960s (her debut The Barbra Streisand Album which won two Grammy Awards in 1963, followed by The Second Barbra Streisand Album, The Third Album, My Name Is Barbra, etc.) are considered classic renditions of theater and nightclub standards, including her version of Happy Days Are Here Again. Beginning with My Name Is Barbra, her albums were often medley-filled keepsakes of her television specials.
Starting in 1969, Streisand tackled contemporary songwriters; like many talented singers of the day, she found herself a fish out of water in attempts to tackle rock, but her vocal talents prevailed and she gained newfound success with the pop and ballad-oriented Richard Perry-produced album Stoney End in 1971. The title track, written by Laura Nyro, was a big hit for Streisand.
Streisand's 1980 album, Guilty featured the songwriting, production and vocal talents of Barry Gibb and was the best-selling album of her recording career. During the 1970s, she was also highly prominent in the pop charts, with number-one records like The Way We Were, Evergreen, No More Tears (Enough Is Enough) (her duet with Donna Summer), and Woman In Love; some of these came from soundtracks of her films. She recently took part in supporting Haiti in singing "We are the World 25th anniversary.
When the 1970s ended, Streisand was named the most successful female singer in the U.S. - only Elvis Presley and The Beatles having sold more albums. [1]
[1] In 1982, New York Times music critic Stephen Holden wrote that Streisand was "the most influential mainstream American pop singer since Frank Sinatra."

By One God
Millions of us lift up our eyes
To One God
So many children calling to him
By many a different name
One father
Many the ways all of us pray
To one god
Many the path
Winding their way
To One God
Brothers and sisters there are no strangers
After his work is done
For your God and my God
Are one
So many children calling out loud
By many a different name
One father
Loving each the same
Many the ways all of us pray
To one God
Many the paths winding their way
To One God
Brothers and sisters there were no strangers
After the world was done
Our God, yes your God, and My God
Are one!
The song One God by Barbra Streisand is a celebration of unity among all religions. The lyrics suggest that despite practicing different faiths or calling God by different names, we are all children of the same divine entity. Streisand uses the metaphor of stars placed in the sky by one God to emphasize the omnipotence and omnipresence of the divine. The song speaks to the human desire for peace, love and the need to recognize our interconnectedness as humans.
The line “many the ways all of us pray” suggests that even though we may pray differently, we are all striving to connect with the same higher power. Streisand’s lyrics assert that the multitudes of religions are simply many paths winding their way to one God, with each path being equally valid. Finally, in the line “Brothers and sisters there were no strangers after the world was done” she touches upon the idea that at the end of it all, we are all part of the same human family.
One interesting fact about the song is that it was written by Paul Williams, the legendary musician who has composed for many renowned artists such as Elvis Presley, David Bowie, amongst others. Williams wrote and composed the song for a children’s album, “The Planet Earth — Our World Today,” which was released on 22nd November 1988. This album aimed to teach children about issues like ecology, global warming, and unity.
Another interesting fact about this song is that the well-known music composer Quincy Jones produced the album. The song also features a gospel choir that brings a powerful energy to the song’s message of unity.
One God became a fan favorite, was released as a single, and hit #16 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary chart. It was also covered by the popular a cappella group Pentatonix in 2015.
Musically, the song is in the key of G major, and it features a simple chord progression of G-C-G-D. The song starts with a simple acoustic guitar riff and then adds a piano and a full choir as the song progresses. The song's melody is simple but effective, relying on the power of the choir to create a moving emotional journey for the listener.
In summary, One God is a beautiful song that unites the human spirit regardless of our different faiths. Its message of love, peace, and unity is still very relevant today.
Chords: G-C-G-D.

The Great Invocation
From the point of Light within the Mind of God
Let light stream forth into human minds.
Let Light descend on Earth.
From the point of Love within the Heart of God
Let love stream forth into human hearts.
May the Coming One return to Earth.
From the centre where the Will of God is known
Let purpose guide all little human wills -
The purpose which the Masters know and serve.
From the centre which we call the human race
Let the Plan of Love and Light work out
And may it seal the door where evil dwells.
Let Light and Love and Power
restore the Plan on Earth.

BARBRA STREISAND - One God
Siriusly Sinatra (channel 70) has been playing some 'seasonal songs' I never heard before today – including, right this minute, “ONE GOD – Barbra Streisand.” Composed, I just learned, by Ervin (It Was a Very Good Year) Drake, who penned the words, to a melody by Jimmy Shirl. Too obscure, it seems, to have a Wiki entry of its own; but 'Second Hand Songs' website has a one-line reference to this version:
One God by Barbra Streisand was written by Ervin Drake and Jimmy Shirl and was first released by Jill Corey with Percy Faith & His Orchestra in 1954.”
“So many children calling out loud, by many a different name: One 'Father' loving each, the same"
Okay, maybe you have to be 'of an age' to be moved by a video featuring so many beautiful children. Or, like me, learn in 2021 that one of your youngest grand kids has taken to saying prayers at bedtime. When she asked, 'What's God like? Her Mom suggested she “talk to your Grampa.” [!]
Thanks for sharing EileenML.

Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:Matthew 7:13
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
John 14:6
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;2 timothy 4:3
There are not many winding paths to God. There is only one path to the father God and that path is through Jesus Christ and believing on him.

My mother's mother was Catholic and my father's mother was Baptist. They were both praying to the same God. The religion we choose is the one we feel most comfortable with. I have always chosen the spiritual path to God.
