Barbra Streisand has recorded more than 60 albums, almost all with Columbia Records. Her early works in the 1960s (her debut The Barbra Streisand Album which won two Grammy Awards in 1963, followed by The Second Barbra Streisand Album, The Third Album, My Name Is Barbra, etc.) are considered classic renditions of theater and nightclub standards, including her version of Happy Days Are Here Again. Beginning with My Name Is Barbra, her albums were often medley-filled keepsakes of her television specials.
Starting in 1969, Streisand tackled contemporary songwriters; like many talented singers of the day, she found herself a fish out of water in attempts to tackle rock, but her vocal talents prevailed and she gained newfound success with the pop and ballad-oriented Richard Perry-produced album Stoney End in 1971. The title track, written by Laura Nyro, was a big hit for Streisand.
Streisand's 1980 album, Guilty featured the songwriting, production and vocal talents of Barry Gibb and was the best-selling album of her recording career. During the 1970s, she was also highly prominent in the pop charts, with number-one records like The Way We Were, Evergreen, No More Tears (Enough Is Enough) (her duet with Donna Summer), and Woman In Love; some of these came from soundtracks of her films. She recently took part in supporting Haiti in singing "We are the World 25th anniversary.
When the 1970s ended, Streisand was named the most successful female singer in the U.S. - only Elvis Presley and The Beatles having sold more albums. [1]
[1] In 1982, New York Times music critic Stephen Holden wrote that Streisand was "the most influential mainstream American pop singer since Frank Sinatra."
Something So Right
Barbra Streisand Lyrics

When the fever runs high
You've got the look of love
Light in your eyes
And I was in crazy motion
Till you calm me down
It took a little time
Something goes wrong
I'm the first to admit it
I'm the first to admit it
And the last one to know
Something goes right
Oh it's likely to lose me
It's up to confuse me
Such an unusual sight, oh, I swear
I can't, I can't get used
To something so right
Something so right
They've got a wall in China
It's a thousand miles long
To keep off the foreigners
They made it strong
And I've got a wall around me
That you can't see
It took a little time
To get next to me
Something goes wrong
I'm the first to admit it
The first to admit it
And the last one to know
Something goes right
Something goes right
Oh it's likely to lose me
It's up to confuse me
Such an unusual sight, oh, I swear
Oh, I can't, I can't get used
To something so right
Something so right
Some people never say the words
"I love you"
It's not best time to be so cold
Some people never say the words
"I love you"
But like a child they're longing to be told
Hmm... Something goes wrong
I am the first to admit it
I'm the first to admit it
And the last one to know
Something goes right
Something goes right
It's like it'll lose me
It's up to confuse me
Such an unusual sight, oh, I swear
I swear, I swear I can't, I can't get used to
Hm, something so right!
Hm, something so right!
"Something So Right" is a beautiful love song by Barbra Streisand that speaks about the power of connection and comfort between two people. The song highlights the beauty of love and how it can calm us down when we are in crazy motion. The lyrics describe the cool water that calms the fever and the look of love that brings the light to the eyes. The song also talks about the fear of losing the sense of security and confusion that love can cause. The singer shares that when something goes wrong, she is the first to admit it and the last to know. However, when something goes right, it can be confusing and lose her.
The song paints a beautiful picture of the transformative power of love, how it can break down even the strongest walls and create a world of possibilities. The lyrics express the feeling of being shielded and protected by walls that still allow for a connection to form. The last verse of the song talks about the fear and apprehension people can have when they are in love, and how they long to be told the words "I love you," like a child.
