A Star Is Born
Barbra Streisand & Kris Kristofferson Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Love soft as an easy chair
Love fresh as the morning air
One love that is shared by two
I have found with you
Like a rose under the April snow
I was always certain love would grow
Love ageless and evergreen
Seldom seen by two
You and I will
Make each night the first
Everyday a beginning
Spirits rise and their dance is unrehearsed
They warm and excite us
'Cause we have the brightest love
Two lights that shine as one
Morning glory and midnight sun
Time, we've learned to sail above

Time, won't change the meaning of one love
Ageless and ever, evergreen

Overall Meaning

The Love theme from A Star is Born sung by Barbra Streisand & Kris Kristofferson is a deeply romantic song that speaks about the beauty of love that is shared between two people. The lyrics begin by comparing love to an easy chair and morning air, which are both things that provide comfort and freshness. It signifies how love can bring a sense of calmness, stability, and rejuvenation to one's life. The next line "One love that is shared by two, I have found with you" indicates that both people in the relationship share the same love, which is the essence of a loving relationship.

The song then goes on to describe love as a rose under the April snow, which is a metaphor for how love can sprout in even the harshest of conditions. The phrase "Love ageless and evergreen, seldom seen by two," denotes that true love is timeless and rarely found in couples these days. It's meant to say that their love will last forever, which is a rare occurrence nowadays. The lyrics continue with the promise of every day being the beginning of a new adventure. They will make each night feel like the first and will keep their love forever young. The lyrics finally come full circle with the lines "Time, won't change the meaning of one love, ageless and ever, evergreen," suggesting that their love will never fade and remain evergreen.

I was 13 when I saw it. Loved it. Remember I was 13 and it was 1976. I thought it was the saddest greatest love story. Forgive Barbara for a little overacting. Her singing nails it. It is so 70s in all ways. If you never lived it, watch thus movie. The days of arena rock. Kris was bang on as an aging burnt out rocker. A lot of people say his voice is not the best, himself included, I disagree, l love the sound of his voice. Check out him singing "Sunday morning comming down" on his Austin sessions cd. Johnny Cash won a Grammy for it, but Kris wrote it and I like his version best.

Memories. I was a college freshman, on Spring Break. Dirt cheap tickets and a chance to see Montrose, Santana, and Frampton. I wasn't a big fan of Barbara Streisand at the time, but that changed. To get to stand near the stage, I got there before the sun rose and didn't leave until after Frampton's encore. Watching Santana jam with Frampton was memorable. What a day.

It was very organized for that many people....I remember they said that over 10 thousand people were outside the stadium on the hills and such, remember that?? The official amount of people in the stadium was just under 60 thousand....but they told us that day it was 80 thousand. Great concert, great times.....no problems. Great memories.
