Empty
Bardot Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Empty Room
I thought I wanted it this way
I thought I really meant the words I said
I had so many reasons in my head
But all I really needed was a little time and space
But that was just a phase
Now it's an empty room
Without you, without you
It's an empty room
To come home, to come home to
It's an empty room
Without you, without you
And this empty room
Just isn't home,
It isn't home without you

Well I guess I'm out of sorts
I must have been completely out of my head
'Cause I feel like a stranger in my own bed

And all the walls and ornaments they seem to offend me
Won't you forgive me?

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Bardot's song "Empty Room" describe the aftermath of a breakup, as the singer reflects on their initial desire for space and freedom, only to realize that they miss their former partner and crave their presence in their now-empty room. The first stanza reveals the singer's initial thoughts on the breakup, as she explains that she "thought [she] wanted it this way" and had "so many reasons in [her] head" for why the separation was necessary. However, she realizes that what she truly needed was simply "a little time and space," and now that the space is all she has, she feels the emptiness acutely.

The chorus then repeats the phrase "without you, without you," emphasizing the loneliness and emptiness of the singer's life without her partner. The line "to come home, to come home to" further emphasizes the idea that home is not just a physical space, but rather a place where one feels safe and comfortable with their loved ones. The second stanza reveals the singer's regret over the breakup, as she describes feeling "completely out of [her] head" and like "a stranger in [her] own bed." She even finds herself offended by her own belongings, as they remind her too much of her former partner.

Overall, "Empty Room" is a poignant depiction of the struggle to move on from a failed relationship and the realization that sometimes what we think we want isn't necessarily what we need. The lyrics are relatable to anyone who has experienced heartbreak or uncertainty in a romantic relationship, and the song's powerful vocals and catchy melody make it a memorable addition to Bardot's discography.

We are so excited that big brother is returning we now need to get pop stars to return in the only way it's going to return is if the music industry changes its tune a little and goes back to the way things were with physical singles and advertising on telly and in radio and install and make it big again and have lots of height and have real decent Talent of people who want to be in a band we think it could all work again it just needs to be done right
