Life of the Party
Bare the Traveler Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I′m alive
Oh fuck i'm alive
And i′m finding that i'm much better
Off without you oh woah
Isn't it strange how life works out
I found myself awake for the first time in years
And i did it all without your help
So go ahead and tell me i′m wrong
Go ahead tell me i′m the one who changed
Cause i'll have to agree
And i′m better now than i was when you knew me
My high horse led me to water
I drained the streams dry
Atleast i'm out here living
Instead of being too scared to die
Alright i′m the life of the party
And your and your and your
Just away at camp
Maybe someday you'll forgive me
For just being who i am
So here i am now
Fucking nothing to hide
Go below (go below) your emotions
Till you rot out your insides
I am who i am who i′ve been
Since day one
Take it or leave it we both know
I'm the best you've ever known
I am who i am
Cause i learned to grow and change

Is it still nice feeling holier
Than the one who really built your name

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Bare the Traveler's song Life of the Party are empowering and full of self-confidence. The song starts with the singer expressing his joy and realization that he is alive and better off without his former lover. The lyrics go on to express how the singer has found himself awake for the first time in years and he did it all without the help of his former lover. The singer challenges anyone who may feel otherwise to tell him he is wrong but acknowledges that he has indeed changed and is a better version of himself.

The song speaks to the idea of being comfortable with oneself and the changes that may occur throughout life. The singer expresses pride in himself for being out there living instead of being too scared to die. He declares himself to be the life of the party and acknowledges that his former lover may not be able to keep up with him. The lyrics suggest that the singer has come to terms with who he is, and he is unapologetic about it. He encourages others to embrace their emotions, even if it means revealing their weaknesses, because that is what being true to oneself entails. The final lyrics pose the question of whether it is still nice to feel holier than the person who built one's name.

The look in Spencer's eyes when he sings is exactly why I fell in love with you guys, hammered as hell at NYP and I've been hooked ever since. I've been listening to this song on repeat for over a year and it never gets old ❤

It's 2022 and this song is still a wonderful representation of this era of NC music.
It's beautiful and wild and it's sweet torture all rolled into the same thing.
It's a salty memory that you don't want to stop tasting.
