Barnes & Barnes formed in 1970. Robert Haimer (died 2023) and Bill Mumy were childhood friends who occasionally jammed together on their musical instruments. Around 1968, they would shoot short films with a Super 8 motion picture camera, dubbed "Art Films". The two began calling each other "Art", and thus, their alter egos were born. Their surname, "Barnes" was taken from a Bill Cosby comedy routine called "Revenge", in which a character called Junior Barnes throws a snowball at Cosby as a child. Originally, both Haimer and Mumy were named "Art Barnes", but Haimer's alter ego was publicly renamed "Artie" in 1979 to differentiate between them. To each other, however, they both still remain "Art". They first received airplay on The Dr. Demento Show in 1978 with their songs "Boogie Woogie Amputee" and "Fish Heads." The latter tune was released as a single on their own Lumania Records in 1979 and remains their best-known song, and the most requested song in the history of The Dr. Demento Show. The song was often mis-attributed to The Chipmunks for its processed high-pitched chorus:
Fish heads, fish heads
Rolly-polly fish heads
Fish heads, fish heads
Eat them up, yum!
Barnes and Barnes have produced two albums for Wild Man Fischer, and one album for Crispin Hellion Glover.

And I want you all to come
Voobanahana vop bop
There's a party in my pants
And I want you all to come
Voobanahana vop bop
Just got into town tonite oh yeah
Oh my pants they fit so tight oh yeah
Bring some beer and being some cheese oh yeah
Bite and tease and squeeze me please oh yeah
We will soon be on our knees oh yeah
After all is done and said oh yeah
You've been entertained and fed oh yeah
Now it's time to use your head uh huh
Yeah.

The lyrics to Barnes & Barnes's song "Party In My Pants" are quite explicit and suggestive of sexual innuendos. The opening line, "There's a party in my pants," is a metaphor for a sexual party or gathering happening in the singer's genitals. The repetition of the line "And I want you all to come" reinforces the invitation-like quality of the song that is directed towards the listener as if they were all invited to participate in the "party."
The subsequent lyrics detail the situation and urge the listener to join in the festivities. The use of nonsense words such as "Voobanahana vop bop" adds to the playful and lighthearted tone of the song. The singer describes how they have just arrived in town and their pants are tight, hinting at their excitement and arousal. They invite their guests to come to the party, bring beer and cheese while teasing and pleasing them.
The final lines of the song suggest that after the physical act of sex is over, their guests will have been entertained and fed. It encourages them to use their heads and decide if they want to come back for more. Overall, the lyrics to "Party In My Pants" are amusing and fun-filled mild erotica that leaves little to the imagination.

Don't forget one of Bill Mumy's best-remembered roles: As the capricious but all-powerful 6-year-old in the Twilight Zone episode, "It's a Good Life." (Among other things, Mumy turns one of the townsfolk into a jack-in-the-box and banishes him to a cornfield.)
