In 1978, five of his albums were on the best-selling charts simultaneously, a feat equaled only by Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen and Johnny Mathis. He has recorded a string of Billboard hit singles and multi-platinum albums that have resulted in his being named Radio & Records number one Adult Contemporary artist and winning three straight American Music Awards for Favorite Pop/Rock Male Artist. Several well-known entertainers have given Manilow their "stamp of approval," including Sinatra, who was quoted in the 1970s regarding Manilow, "He's next." In 1988, Bob Dylan stopped Manilow at a party, hugged him and said, "Don't stop what you're doing, man. We're all inspired by you."
As well as producing and arranging albums for other artists, such as Bette Midler and Dionne Warwick, Manilow has written songs for musicals, films, and commercials. From February 2005 to December 30, 2009, he was the headliner at the Las Vegas Hilton, performing hundreds of shows before ending relationship with the hotel. From March 2010, he has headlined at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas. He has sold more than 80 million records worldwide
I've Got My Love To Keep Me Warm
Barry Manilow Lyrics

But I can weather the storm!
What do I care how much it may storm?
I've got my love to keep me warm
I can't remember a worse December
Just watch those icicles form!
What do I care if icicles form?
Off with my overcoat, off with my glove
I need no overcoat, I'm burning with love!
My heart's on fire, the flame grows higher
So I will weather the storm!
What do I care how much it may storm?
I've got my love to keep me warm
Off with my overcoat, off with my glove
I need no overcoat, I'm burning with love!
My heart's on fire, the flame grows higher
So I will weather the storm!
What do I care how much it may storm?
I've got my love to keep me warm
Out with the fire off with the sweater
I got a heater couldn't be better will be
So comfee all through the storm
I've got my love to keep me warm
In the song "I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm," Barry Manilow sings about how love can keep someone warm in the midst of a harsh winter storm. The lyrics begin by describing the snow falling and the wind blowing, but the singer is unbothered by the storm because he has his love to keep him warm. In the second verse, the singer acknowledges that December has been especially bad and that icicles are forming, but he continues to dismiss the storm because he has his love. The bridge is a declaration of how much the singer loves his partner and how their love warms his heart like a fire. The song ends with the same refrain as the beginning, with the singer stating that he has his love to keep him warm, even as he sheds his coat and gloves and basks in the warmth of his love.
This song is a testament to the power of love in getting through hard times. When everything else seems bleak and cold, love can provide a warmth that nothing else can match. The repetition of the refrain throughout the song emphasizes the resilience and determination that come with a strong sense of love. The images of snow and icicles serve as a metaphor for hardship and adversity, but the singer is undeterred because of his love.
Interestingly, "I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm" was first written by Irving Berlin in 1937, over 30 years before Barry Manilow's version. Berlin was inspired to write the song after experiencing a harsh Midwestern winter while he was on a trip to California. The song became a hit and has been covered by many artists over the years.
