January 1974 I worked my last shift in the steel mill. The next morning I got on a bus to the Pittsburgh airport to move to California. The temperature was close to zero degrees. My brother picked me up at the San Francisco airport and it was a glorious day driving over the Bay bridge. It was then that this song came on the radio. Was feeling like I never had before. Driving over the bay on a glorious sunny day and listening to this song. It was my start to a whole new life.

Oh my. I hurt for you. I introduced my father to this tune many years ago and he just loved it...and then died in 2014. I still miss him seven years on, so can only remember the sadness you are dealing with right now. It's still there and always will be, but the sharp edge is dulled a bit with time too. I hope you will experience the same.

Gas loving guzzling hogs land yacht's all over USA roads and freeways. Bought this same album brand new in 1973! for $1.99. Still have it. Memories of a time when America was still great even with the so called issues of the time. Never to return, but only in a Pipedream. So glad I lived it. Was only 13 then. USA TITANIC now sinking fast and is a nightmare to live in now.

My Mum loved Barry White and we had this played at her funeral. Not the full version but what it was, was great and now whenever I hear it or play it on hear it brings back memories of her and I wonder whether she is hearing it wherver up there she is. I am not relgious but when her ashes were scattered off the Cape of Good Hope (she was born in South Africa and always told us how stormy it could be coming round the Cape when she came over to England by boat for holidays). A friend of mine took her ashes and the Priest at the Chapel there held a memorial service for her. As my friend went to scatter her ashes, from there being no wind, a breeze took the ashes and in the sky he saw the outline of a woman and an Afghan hound. A woman behind him asked if he saw what she did. She bred afghans and she had seen exactly what my friend had seen. He got straight on the phone to me and asked if my Mum ever had an Afghan hound. I said she had not but she loved them and would have loved to have had one. So whenever I hear this song this is what I remember..

Yes they do, and they have largely been lost, except in film scores. An emotional instrument the violin. Soaring .
They often bring out the tears in me (and they are right now). Certainly the best background instrument too, the violin....
But not here. :D Here they are on the very cusp. And it couldn't be any better.

I saw Barry conduct his orchestra live playing this. The orchestra all had on tuxedos with tails. The white players had on black tuxedos and the black players had on white tuxedos. It was awesome and something to see. Barry with his baton (or whatever you call it) conducting his orchestra. I'll never ever forget it🎵🎶

My mother, God bless her, is 82 years old and has loved this song for the almost 50 years it has been around! She plays it quite often at her house when she is listening to music along with Love Is Blue, A Taste of Honey, Music Box Dancer, and other great instrumentals from the 1960's and 70's. What a great time it was to be alive!!!!!

Barry White was one of my favorite singers and so was the Bee Gees, Donna Summer, Al Green, Stylistics, Eagles, Elton John, Isley Brothers, Marvin Gaye, Michael & Jacksons 5, Diana Ross and lots of one hit wonders from the 70's. I feel sorry for people who’ve always had music at their fingertips. They’ll never know the thrill of hearing THAT SONG on the radio. Staying in the car to finish a song because it was too good to miss even a bar of it. Kind of like waiting all year for a Christmas special to come on TV.

When I say " This is Music" I mean exactly that.... I'm a 70's Baby and my parents were so musically inclined. My mom and I would get up every Saturday morning and hit the record store, she'll get the 45's and 33's vinyl. We listened to all genres of music.I have great childhood memories. Back in August of 1973, I went to a club in London. The club was underground and as I descended the stairs, Love's Theme started playing. Four months later I sat in the audience of the Felt Forum, the smaller venue which was part of Madison Square Garden. The bill was New Birth, Love Unlimited and Barry White in his first major NY appearance. Love's Theme was the overture and then Glodean, Diane and Linda struted out to do their set. After their set. Barry came out and commanded the stage. Twenty years later. I used Love's Theme to open a one man show I performed in the Village. This song has always been and will. be a major part of my life. Thank you for the wonderful extended version.
