Today there's no need to try.
The time is here but we've got nothing to fear.
We're not alone but it's so hard to go.
And you know...
It's much better now when I'm gone.
Now we're bitter and weak. Sometimes it's better to leave.
The time is here but we've got nothing to fear.
We're not alone but it's so hard to go.
And you know...
It's much better now when I'm gone.
The lyrics of Bay Laurel's song "Pale Colours" depict a sense of defeat and giving up in life. The first two lines "Today we're through with this life. Today there's no need to try," suggest that the singer has lost all hope and has decided to let go of life. However, there is a certain sense of acceptance in the lyrics with "The time is here but we've got nothing to fear. We're not alone but it's so hard to go." This indicates that though they may have come to terms with the end, the thought of leaving loved ones and the struggle of finishing everything is making it difficult to let go.
The chorus of the song repeats the line "It's much better now when I'm gone," emphasizing the belief that leaving this life behind might provide peace and respite. The lyrics "Pale colours of life. The world that we made has died. Now we're bitter and weak. Sometimes it's better to leave," convey that the singer feels that life has lost its vibrancy and beauty, leaving them bitter and weak. The phrase "sometimes it's better to leave" indicates that they have come to peace with the idea of death as an escape from their current state.
Overall, the lyrics of the song delve into the complex emotions that arise when someone contemplates or accepts death. It portrays a resignation to this fate and a feeling of relief in leaving behind their struggles.
