Same here. Pam was my teen crush and after awhile I realized she really had quite a good sense of humor and wrap her up in a sweater and frumpy clothes with no makeup and a bland ball hat and she would still be someone I bet would be fun to hang out with and just have a honest good time going out for dinner and a movie. I was born in 1983, but distinctly remember here in the UK, tuning in to Baywatch on a late Saturday afternoon, followed by Gladiators (for the fellow British viewers who may remember Gladiators).
Baywatch was huge here in the UK, as it was globally.
To date, I think it still stands as the largest watched serial drama in world television history.

Baywatch's theme song was definitely a top 20 for theme songs from the 80's to the early millennium.
I grew up watching the first few seasons but I was shocked to learn it came out in 1989. I remember seeing my grandparents and parents watch "I Love Lucy" and "Leave it to Beaver" and just getting depressed thinking of how old they were and how boring those shows like M.A.S.H were.
This is on Tubi now and it's actually pretty dope now 🙄 I know I sound "old," but I can't believe they swam, ran and acted in the ocean. There was a bomb episode and I was like "where are the cops?" These were like life guards/beach cops 🤣 And they ran in bikinis and swim suits. Imagine being in the military on a battle field and running from bombs in bikinis. 🙆🏾🤦🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️😣🤣

The intro with those quad echo drums, the tonal notes and loose piano invokes such a good vision of waves rolling in & breaking on a wide, early morning shoreline. The outro sounds like the sun setting over the same shoreline!
I've always liked to believe they were designed to envisage a seascape, so as to complement the theme of the show.
