The Beach Boys "Wendy" is a song about a man who has been left alone by Wendy, whom he appears to have been in a relationship with for an extended period of time. This song seems to be one of the earlier Beach Boys' tracks to feature a solid keyboard sound.
The song has a melancholic tinge, with the singer expressing his sadness of losing Wendy by implying that he never thought he was capable of crying ("I never thought a guy could cry"). The irony of it after their long companionship is tragic.
