In 1999 Beate was asked by Bugge Wesseltoft to make a record for Jazzland rec. He gave her freedom to make the record she wanted. Beate meant that the best way to really make a record of her own was to make it completely by herself - composing, arranging, text writing, programming, recording and producing. Since she had a studio at home, she would do as much as possible there, on her own Macintosh computer.
After a while Marius contributed more to the creation of the record. Dividing up the labour, Marius took care of the groove elements and Beate was in charge of the melodies, harmonies and lyrics, with some exceptions both ways. Since the work was done in private surroundings, the record was entitled “Home”. Most of the recordings were done in Beate’s 6 meters flat in Oslo except for the strings, vibraphone and drums, which were done in Bugge’s room (Bugge Wesseltoft's studio).
Because of the co-operation between Beate and Marius, the project name “Beate S. Lech” was abandoned and “Beady Belle” was created. Beady Belle worked solidly on this record for one and a half years.

Come a little closer
Lend an ear to my secretive, whispering, quiet word
Closer
Still a little closer
What i tell you must in no case go unheard
Clandestine, devoted, forbidden sense
Intimate, intimate
Mysterious, mutual confidence
Closer
Just a little closer
Don't worry, there's no danger, no offence
Closer
Still a little closer
And you'll see my message is simply self-evidence
The song "Closer" by Beady Belle is a mysterious and sensual track that speaks about intimacy, trust, and secrets in a relationship. The lyrics urge the listener to come closer and listen to the singer's secretive whispers. The first two lines, "Come a little closer, lend an ear to my secretive, whispering, quiet word" set the tone for the song, insisting the listener come closer to hear what the singer has to say. This opening verse is followed by the repetition of the word "closer," which further emphasizes the importance of the subject matter.
The lyrics suggest that what the singer is about to reveal is delicate, clandestine, devoted, and forbidden, and that it is only meant for the person who's listening. The line "what I tell you must in no case go unheard" is essential to the song's message as it urges the listener to pay attention to every word. The second verse uses words like mutual confidence, mysterious and intimate, to create an atmosphere of secrecy, showing that the relationship is built on a foundation of trust.
In the chorus, the singer promises that there is no danger or offense as they urge the listener to come closer. The final line, "And you'll see my message is simply self-evidence," suggests that the singer's message is genuine and should be taken as such. The song has a unique and playful narrative, and it uses words rich in meaning to create an atmosphere of intimacy, which makes it a popular pick for fans of Jazz, soul and easy-listening music.
