911
Behind The Lights Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Tension is rising
I feel the war has just begun
Why are we fighting, looking down the barrel of a gun?
Eyes are awakening, I watch the exit sign dim down
The screams are deafening, as we're falling towards the ground
I'm sleeping on nails convinced that we need a better day
I'm standing on my knees
Can you hear me calling?
Can you see me falling?
The world with seven seas Is slowly crawling
It feels like we're stalling
Live and love life you only get one shot
Make every day count
One nation under god indivisible and justice for all
Oh!
I'm sleeping on nails convinced that we need a better day
I'm standing on my knees
Can you hear me calling?
The world with seven seas Is slowly crawling
I'm standing on my knees
Can you hear me calling?

The world with seven seas Is slowly crawling
It feels like we're stalling...

Overall Meaning

In the song "911" by Behind The Lights, the tension is rising as the war has just begun. The singer questions why we keep fighting and why we're looking down the barrel of a gun. The awakening of eyes is a metaphor for the realization that we're in trouble, and the exit sign dimming down represents the dead end we've come to. With screams that are deafening, we're falling towards the ground, which could symbolize our ultimate fate if we don't come together to find a solution.

The lyric "I'm sleeping on nails convinced that we need a better day" describes the frustration of the singer and the need for a positive change. "Standing on my knees" is a common idiom that means to be begging for help or mercy. The singer's plea for help is expressed through the lines "Can you hear me calling? Can you see me falling?" The world with seven seas is slowly crawling, and it feels like we're stalling, meaning that we're not making any visible progress towards a better future.

I actually have to say, as much as I love the screams, I love the cleans a lot more. But it's a pretty beast song

moosiesan

I love it. The dissonation parts still sound like the old skool HxC, the screams are flawless and also being the clean vocalist makes it really awesome! But the nicest is how variety of the instrumentals are in the song unlike most metalcore bands now. This a real band which represents post-hardcore and the message within it.
