Taking their name from the '80s sitcom, Belvedere began in Calgary, Alberta, Canada in 1995 as the three-piece of Steve Rawles (guitar/vocals), Brock (bass), and Dan Hrynuik (drums).
As the years progressed along with their revolving lineup, Belvedere remained with their melodic pop-punk sound that looked up to the likes of Bad Religion and NOFX. Eventually recruiting second guitarist Scott Solo, replacement drummer Jay Hollywood, and a replacement bassist Jaison Synclair, the quartet released their debut album, "Because No One Stopped Us", in 1998 through Hourglass and 206 Records. After spending most of 1999 on the road, along with Bad Religion and Strung Out, for a stint -- 206 Records put out Belvedere's follow-up album, "Angels Live in My Town", in early 2000. In 2001, the Montreal imprint Union 2112 released "Twas Hell Said Former Child", Belvedere's proper second album that coincided their first ever European tour. A split release with Downway, "Hometown Advantage", was issued in 2003. When it came time to recovene for another studio album, Belvedere joined producer Blair Calibaba (Sum 41) in Calgary for the recording of "Fast Forward Eats the Tape". Shared dates with Death by Stereo, Tsunami Bomb and Misconduct followed in Spring 2004. The band broke up in late 2005, playing their last show to their hometown Calgary crowd in November.
On November 2011, the band's official Facebook page announced that the band was going to get together again for a couple of shows the next year, wich included two shows in Europe (playing their first show in Paris and appearing again at GroezRock after seven years), then five in Canada, three in Brazil and one again in Canada, in Vancouver, on June 16th. Being at first that their final show, it was later announced that they'll appear in another final event in Guelph, Canada, on September the 1st 2012, with fellow punkrockers The Fullblast, also reuniting for the ocasion, Grade and Moneen.

Repetition Rejection
Belvedere Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
All Inspiration Drifts Away
But I Watch Myself Repeat And Ignore
My Dreams Are Secondary
Wish I Could Take It All For Granted
But Motivation's Fading, It's Out Of The Question
Wish I Could Break Free For A Moment
Disable The Connection With Everything
Sign Off
Yeah It's True, I'll Often Change My Tune
And I Won't Prescribe Myself
I'll Walk Away, Regret And Retrace
Each Step Filled With Repulsion
Wish I Could Take It All For Granted
But Motivation's Fading, It's Out Of The Question
Wish I Could Break Free For A Moment
Disable The Connection With Everything
Sign Off
No Conscience's Breaking The Mould
This Carousel Of Pattern
It's Spinning Me
I Want And I Try And I Fail
This Masquerade Of Instinct
It's Breaking Me

Belvedere's song Repetition Rejection is an introspective look at the frustration and weariness that comes with falling into the same patterns and routines in life. The lyrics explore the feeling of losing inspiration and motivation, and how despite wanting to break free from the monotony, it can seem impossible. The singer desires to disconnect from everything and take a break, but feels trapped in their own repetitiveness.
The opening lines of the song express the disappointment of the singer with their own creative output. They feel like their ideas and their inspiration are falling short and they are getting stuck in a loop of repeating the same uninspired work. The chorus expresses their desire to break free from this cycle, but the feeling of being trapped is still present. The repetition continues to weigh them down.
The second verse adds to this theme by expressing the singer's willingness to change and try again, but ultimately falling short. The frustration with oneself is evident, and the idea of walking away only to regret and retrace their steps adds to the overall sense of hopelessness present in the song. The repeated use of "Sign Off" in the chorus further emphasizes this desire to disconnect and find some relief from the monotony of life.
Overall, Repetition Rejection is a powerful anthem for anyone who has felt stuck in a rut, creatively or otherwise. Its lyrics express the desire to break free from the patterns that weigh us down, but also acknowledge the difficulty of doing so. It's a relatable and honest take on the human experience.
