I like that you specified "primal fear" restricting them from accessing male ancestral memories,
because I often see Dune fans who are under the impression that the BG in-fact cannot access male ancestral memories at all (to the point of bringing up that it has to do something with X/Y chromosomes..), and I do not believe that the idea is that the KH has to be male due to being male being special in some way, rather it's that the BG being all-female makes the female side of the ancestral memories familiar and safe, but leaves the male side unsafe/unexplored in general.
To elaborate,
if you look at Jessica's ancestors,
on the female side you see an incredibly long line exclusively consisting of previous BG Reverend Mothers, all of whom are "in on it" and following certain rules/inhibitions on how to deal with ancestral memories and avoiding possession,
on the male side you would see a diverse unrelated mess of random males from across the emperium who were simply used for their genes, but otherwise presented a mess of inconsistent values and personalities...
so with the BG in place, from a character with Jessica's position, the male side is scary from the outset.
And then there is also the matter of BG "sharing awareness" to pass down their own personas as safeguards for the minds of new Reverend Mothers, and those are all only familiar with the female ancestors as well.
Another way to put it:
everyone can "access" either side of their ancestral memories, it's just that the BG have conditioned themselves into fearing the male side as a safety mechanism against possession until they have built up a strong enough lineage of female personalities, to let a powerful enough male access the rest of them without getting possessed by them.
So the BG are looking for a male, who being a male would have it easier to access male ancestral memories, AFTER the BG have made the female side safe for them.
In other words... if the BG were an all-male order (ignoring the obvious reproductive flaws of such an organisation for the sake of example), they'd probably be working towards a special female to access the female ancestral memories from the benefit of having a wealth of safeguards on the male side of ancestral memories prepared in advance.
I hope this makes any sense lol
But I do think it accounts for the cases that people sometimes bring up as "inconsistencies" (like Alia getting possessed by the Baron, and Paul showing Jessica a glimpse into her male ancestral memories after he wakes from his WOL ritual etc.),

I have so many questions when it comes to Dune. Here are a few..
#1 Did Lady Jessica personally know of the attack on the Atreides on Arrakis? She was getting hints by the Reverend Mother something terrible was brewing. And if so why didn't she warn Duke Leto of the coming danger?
#2 Would Duke Leto Atreides possible marriage to Lady Jessica could have prevented war being Lady Jessica was really Harkonnen? And why wouldn't the Bene Gesserit anticipate the Kwisatz Haderach early knowing about Lady Jessica's true blood line? And did Duke Leto even know Jessica was even Harakonnen in the first place?
#3 I know Paul bloodline was special through his mother being Bene Gesserit. But what was special about Duke Leto's bloodline other than royalty? In the original film Duke Leto told Paul "There's a sleeper inside of us....the sleeper must awaken." What did Duke Leto mean by that conversation?
#4 Why wasn't Lady Jessica and Paul punished for messing up the centuries long plan of the Bene Gesserit?

I think the BG would likely have failed, even if everything happened acording to their plan. The golden path is about humanity not being able to be controlled, which is what the BG were doing when they had power. They shaped humanity to their wishes. They only became unpredictable in opposition to a leader, when they weren't in control. Any KH would have seen the golden path, wether they decided to follow it or not. I think Leto saw that one of the axis of control causing despair to humanity's future was the BG through their use of religion and breeding. They might even be a reason why the path had to be so harsh. Their steering of humanity in one single direction sounds like the opposite of the golden path to me. Assuming this is true, this would end in the horrible fate Leto saw, and that any KH would see, even a BG controlled one. Then it would have been a question of morale and loyalty, to the BG or all of humanity? The goal of guiding humanity, but what if he BG path is wrong? Thats the flaw in their plan. A KH with full prescience, seeing the flaws in the direction they were taking, might still oppose them

Leto and Paul certainly saw that the status quo of the post-Corrino empire (including the BG's schemes) would lead to humanity's extinction. Only the invisibility to prescience (Siona genes and no-tech) could guarantee survival and proliferation...along with engineering a population that never wanted a messiah again.
