Whatcha know 'bout the monkey business
Whatcha know 'bout the monkey business
Whatcha know 'bout the monkey business
Whatcha know 'bout the monkey business
Tell me whatchu know 'bout the monkey business
Whatcha know 'bout the monkey business
Whatcha know 'bout the monkey business
Please don't text and please don't call
I don't want to see your face at all
I wanna live my life so let it be
So get your ass away from me
Monkey business, mo- monkey business
Tell your friends to be my witness
If I have to see your ass at Christmas you'd fill my stomach with sickness
Monkey business, mo- monkey business
I need to keep your ass at a distance
You know that I'm not religious
But when you talk I wanna pay God a visit
Cause you know that I'm so delicious
Leave you wet just like a nimbus
And if this song started off too vicious
You'll be glad
Cause I'm finished
Whatcha know 'bout the monkey business
Whatcha know 'bout the monkey business
Whatcha know 'bout the monkey business
Whatcha know 'bout the monkey business
Whatcha know 'bout the monkey business
Tell me whatchu know 'bout the monkey business
Whatcha know 'bout the monkey business
Whatcha know 'bout the monkey business
What the fuck did we just make
I have no idea
In the lyrics to "Monkey Business" by Ben And Lex, the repetition of the phrase "Whatcha know 'bout the monkey business" serves as a bold and assertive declaration challenging the listener. The use of this phrase creates a sense of curiosity and defiance, as the singer seems to be questioning the knowledge or understanding others may have about certain aspects of their life or experiences. It sets the tone for the rest of the song, establishing a confrontational and self-assured attitude.
The following lines express a desire for solitude and independence, asking to be left alone and free from unwanted contact or interference. The refusal to engage in communication or interaction with someone adds a layer of personal boundaries and self-preservation to the narrative of the song. The mention of Christmas and feeling physically ill at the thought of seeing someone further reinforces the intensity of the singer's emotions and the lengths they are willing to go to avoid certain individuals.
As the lyrics progress, the tone shifts to a mix of defiance and flirtation, with references to physical attraction and desire. The singer acknowledges their own appeal and suggests a power dynamic where they have control over the other person's reactions and emotions. The imagery of leaving someone "wet like a nimbus" adds a sensual and almost playful element to the lyrics, juxtaposed with the earlier themes of distance and rejection.
The final lines of the song bring a sense of closure and finality, with the singer asserting their agency and confidently concluding the interaction. The uncertainty expressed in the line "What the fuck did we just make, I have no idea" adds a touch of self-awareness and introspection, highlighting the complexity and ambiguity of human relationships and interactions. Overall, the lyrics of "Monkey Business" blend themes of defiance, desire, and self-assurance, creating a multifaceted narrative that explores boundaries, power dynamics, and personal agency.

Leave you wet just like a nimbus
I will have a strong effect on you, making you emotionally vulnerable
And if this song started off too vicious
If this song seemed aggressive at the beginning
