He graduated from Rutgers University with a degree in biology. After that, he moved to New York City to work as a producer and sound-engineer at a local recording studio.
Ben was discovered by Joseph Janus of Fearless Management, who originally wanted to sign Ben as a model. Instead, Ben handed him a demo, and shortly thereafter, he was signed to a label and released his debut album "Give It All Away". His music has been featured on One Tree Hill, Smallville, Las Vegas, and was used to promote the Academy Award Nominated "Finding Neverland" starring Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet. He has also written music for Tori Amos' RAINN organization and joined the National Resources Defense Council (NRDC) and Wildlife Works. Ben also independently released the EP "Rejected" through Fearless Management Records in 2005.
In 2007, Ben Jelen released a proper followup to "Give It All Away". The CD is called "Ex-Sensitive" (formerly titled "East" and "Pulse") and it was released on Custard Records. This album is all about love, but unlike his debut, this album does not focus on romantic love, but love for the earth and the environment.

Christine, she says that she still loves me
She stands there calling my name
In her boyfriend's jacket in the rain
I guess she's in love with the whole damned world
And the whole world loves her
Won't turn without her
I can't live without her
Just one moment with Christine
You know exactly what I mean
She stays the night and then she leaves
Just a little hope in between
One more moment with Christine
She's like a life-time where I've been
I want to live to the extreme
I need another taste of Christine
Oh I need another taste (another taste) of Christine
Christine, the touch of another human's hand
Their whispered breath falling on your skin
I don't know where to begin
Well, I just arrived, now I'm locked in
And now I'm caught in your mixed-up world
And the whole world loves you
Won't turn without you
It has to have you
I can't live without you
Just one moment with Christine
You know exactly what I mean
She stays the night and then she leaves
Just a little hope in between
One more moment with Christine
She's like a life-time where I've been
I want to live to the extreme
Won't you tell me, where's Christine?
How many times will it take for me to learn
Tell me, are we heading for nowhere
Christine
How many times will it take for me to learn
Tell me, are we heading for nowhere (echo)
And the whole world loves her
Just one moment with Christine
You know exactly what I mean
She stays the night and then she leaves
Just a little hope in between
One more moment with Christine
Is like a life-time where I've been
I want to live to the extreme
I need another taste of Christine
How many times does it take to learn?
How many times does it take to learn?
How many times does it take to learn?
How many times does it take to learn?
Another taste of Christine
The song "Christine" by Ben Jelen is a heart-wrenching song that portrays a man's love for a woman named Christine. The song begins with Christine telling the singer that she is in love again but claims that she still loves him. She is seen wearing her boyfriend's jacket in the rain, calling out his name. The singer is left confused as Christine is in love with the whole world, and the whole world loves her. He admits that he cannot live without her and that he needs just one more moment with her.
The song's lyrics further explore the singer's infatuation with Christine, where he compares her touch to "another human's hand" and her breath on his skin to a "whisper." He admits that he is locked in her mixed-up world and is caught up in her charm. He wants to live life to the extreme with her and needs another taste of Christine. The song's chorus is a repetitive plea for just one more moment with the woman he loves.
