Take It Or Leave It
Bennet & Bee Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
With "Hello" and "What a rainy day"
And I couldn't deny
And the way you just smiled made me answer: "You're right"
I said: "What about a coffee on the corner of the street?
I see you need it, am I right?"
Like a statue in the night
Take it or leave it
But don't you think twice
You can take it or leave it
You know you better take my advice
And you gotta believe it
That it could be so nice
You just take it or leave it
Don't you think twice
I started laughing, felt a little bit stupid
"O.K., I join you right away"
Well, I knew at the time that you was feeling you'd like
I could love you (Mmm) today
I said: "Honey, come along, we got plenty of time
I've got a place where we can go"
But you didn't do a thing
But laugh in the rain
Like a women in love could do
Take it or leave it (Take it or leave it)
But don't you think twice (But don't you think twice)
You can take it or leave it (Take it or leave it)
You know you better take my advice (Dooodooorooodooodooo)
And you gotta believe it (You gotta believe it)
That it could be so nice (That it could it be so nice)
You just take it or leave it
But don't you think twice
Take it or leave it (Take it or leave it)
But don't you think twice (But don't you think twice)
You can take it or leave it (Take it or leave it)
You know you better take my advice (Dooodooorooodooodooo)
And you gotta believe it (Gotta believe it)
That it could be so nice (That it could it be so nice)
You just take it or leave it
But don't you think twice
Now, now, you take it or leave it (Take it or leave it)
But don't you think twice (But don't you think twice)
You can take it or leave it (Take it or leave it)
You know you better take my advice (Dooodooorooodooodooo)
And you gotta believe it (Gotta believe it)
That it could be so nice (That it could it be so nice)
The lyrics of "Take it or leave it" by Bennet & Bee tell a story of two strangers who meet in the rain on Second Avenue. The first stanza describes how the singer and the other person exchanged pleasantries on a rainy day, and despite the awkward silence, they both feel drawn to each other. The singer then suggests grabbing coffee together, and even though the other person hesitates, they ultimately agree.
In the second stanza, the singer suggests going to a place they know where they can spend time together. The other person is hesitant again, but eventually agrees. During their time together, the singer feels a connection and hopes that they can pursue a romantic relationship. However, the other person remains hesitant.
The chorus of the song emphasizes the importance of taking a chance on love and not thinking twice about it. The singer warns the other person that they better take their advice and not miss out on a potentially good thing. The repetition of "take it or leave it" emphasizes the singer's determination to pursue the relationship despite the other person's hesitancy.
Overall, "Take it or leave it" is a song about taking chances on love and not letting fear hold you back from pursuing meaningful relationships.

Their voices complement each other well! Thank you for sharing! 💖
Golden Ghost
Are you kidding me? Her voice is clashing so badly with his imo it just hurts my ears when they are singing together.
That 70's Girl
@Golden Ghost ... I agree that she doesn't have the best singing voice by herself, but together he helps her voice... alot!!
Golden Ghost
@That 70's Girl I think we are hearing things in completly different situations and mindsets, because I agree that she hasn't the best singing voice, but I could find quality in it when she was singing by herself, but paired with his voice it went all wrong for me.
