The Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra was founded in Berlin in 1882 by 54 musicians under the name Frühere Bilsesche Kapelle (literally, "Former Bilse's Band"); the group broke away from their previous conductor Benjamin Bilse after he announced his intention of taking the band on a fourth-class train to Warsaw for a concert. The orchestra was renamed and reorganized under the financial management of Hermann Wolff in 1887. Their new conductor was Ludwig von Brenner; in 1887 Hans von Bülow, one of the most esteemed conductors in the world, took over the post. This helped to establish the orchestra's international reputation, and guests Hans Richter, Felix von Weingartner, Richard Strauss, Gustav Mahler, Johannes Brahms and Edvard Grieg conducted the orchestra over the next few years.

Tuba mirum spargens sonum
Per sepulchra regionum,
Coget omnes ante thronum.
TENOR SOLO
Mors stupebit et natura,
Cum resurget creatura,
Liber scriptus proferetur,
In quo totum continetur,
unde mundus judicetur.
ALTO SOLO
Judex ergo cum sedebit,
Quidquid latet apparebit,
Nil inultum remanebit.
SOPRANO SOLO AND QUARTET
Quid sum miser tunc dicturus,
Quem patronum rogaturus,
Cum vix justus sit securus ?
The lyrics you provided are actually a part of the Latin text from Mozart's Requiem Mass in D minor, specifically from the movement "Tuba mirum." This movement typically follows the "Dies irae" and serves as a reflection on the Day of Judgment. The lyrics are as follows:
BASS SOLO
Tuba mirum spargens sonum
Per sepulchra regionum,
Coget omnes ante thronum.
TENOR SOLO
Mors stupebit et natura,
Cum resurget creatura,
Judicanti responsura.
LIBER SCRIPTUS
Proferetur, in quo totum continetur,
Unde mundus judicetur.
ALTO SOLO (not present in the provided lyrics)
Judex ergo cum sedebit,
Quidquid latebit apparebit,
Nil inultum remanebit.
SOPRANO SOLO AND QUARTET
Quid sum miser tunc dicturus,
Quem patronum rogaturus,
Cum vix justus sit securus?
Translated into English, the lyrics convey the dramatic imagery of the Last Judgment and the fear and uncertainty that come with it. The "tuba mirum" refers to the trumpet that will sound, announcing the judgment to all regions through the graves. Death and nature are described as being stunned when all creatures rise again to respond to the Judge. The "liber scriptus" is the book of judgment that is brought forth, containing everything by which the world will be judged. The text then reflects on the individual's fear and helplessness in that moment, wondering what they will say, who they will call upon for protection, when even the righteous are not secure.
