Wright toured with Lenny White at 13 and played with Tom Browne in 1979. He got such strong response that he was signed to GRP in 1981. But the LP 'Nard stalled, though there was good reaction among R&B and fusion fans to the single "Just Chillin' Out." It was followed by Funky Beat for Arista and Mr. Wright for Manhattan/EMI. Wright also co-wrote and sang with La La on "We'll Keep Strivin." He recorded with Cameo, Bobby Brown, Pieces of a Dream, and Charles Earland, among others.

In 1990 he released the gospel album Fresh Hymns. In 2000 he formed a trio with Alfredo Elias and Damon Banks and released the album Back To Our Roots.

I was playing in a band down there and I frequently got the chance to play with him and hang out and hear his stories. What a cool guy, man. I jam with Bernard he was 14 years old in South Jamaica Queens New York. I never jam with Don Blackman but he was like family to my group ( Motivation ) We always went to his apartment in South Jamaica and hang with him. Lenny White is also personal friend of mine haven't seen him quite some time. The man was Melvin Palmer 134th Avenue Jamaica Queens New York The Palmer Brothers. RIP Don and Bernard it was a pleasure. I will always be grateful.

The late, great Don Blackman wrote this tune for Bernard Wright. He sang on it & played the Fender Rhodes on it while Bernard played all other keyboards. Marcus Miller played bass on this track as well.. There's no satanic meaning behind the song, it's just a funk melody with fun lyrics. Classic!

It is refreshing to see a comment from someone actually interested in music like Eric Epps. When I uploaded this piece back in 2009, I did not anticipate that the song would ultimately be used in a violent video game program for youth to waste hundreds of hours playing. I did not anticipate that nearly 200,000 viewers would check this out. I did not anticipate so many young people with no sense of history and no knowledge, understanding, or appreciation for R&B, Funk, or Jazz Fusion, would feel compelled to log on and make such ignorant and at times, hostile statements. Thank you Eric, Alan, Dominic, and others for restoring my faith in humanity. Look I get what you're saying, but like myself, I'm not old enough/ didn't grow up in the 70's/ 80's to be able to know/ experience these great artists.
I've always respected funk, coming from a house and hip hop music enthusiast/ DJ. I love that the rockstar crew have always put the dopest music on all the grand theft auto series, those guys know what's up! Obviously.

This song is a great musical piece. A lot of people are trippin off of the lyrics and such, but if you have an ACTUAL ear for music, you will find that the arrangement and yes, the vocals as well, are nicely played as far as interaction. But my main focal point is the music itself and listening to the skill of the musicians; take for instance the bass player on this song and the keyboardist. A nice piece, indeed. To ME, anyways.

Me and my older sister thought this song was hilarious when we were kids back in the early 80's.
We used to always beg our dad to play this record.
This song is meant to be listened to while you're peaking on acid.
You haven't really heard these vocals until you hear them that way.
