Monjetan egin ditu ikasketak,
Erizaina izango da ama bezala
Herriko elizan eskonduko da
Baina Mariak badauka etxean
Kontatuko ez duen sekretua
Hasi da abesten orain dela gutxi
Dantzazazu! Sweet Mary!
Dantzazazu! Sweet Mary!
Ailegatu da berriro astelehena,
Gona laukidun uniformea,
Noiz iritziko berriz ostirala,
berriz abesteko lokalean.
Baina Mariak badauka etxean,
jantziko ez lukeen beste jantzia,
Ska laukidun tiranteak eta
Marteen’s botak erosi berriak.
Dantzatzeko! Sweet Mary!
Dantzatzeko! Sweet Mary!
Baliteke inoiz ez ibiltzea
Berarentzat zeukaten bidea,
Ta agian mantal txuria soineko
Beltz batengatik aldatzea.
Baina Mariak badauka etxean
Afalorduan esatekoa,
Familia aurrean arituko dela
Herriko jaietan kontzertuan.
Dantzazazu! Sweet Mary!

The Betagarri song "Sweet Mary" is a catchy and upbeat tune that tells a story of a young woman named Mary. The song starts with the father putting Mary through school to become a nurse, then proceeds to talk about Mary dancing and enjoying herself. The chorus encourages Mary to dance and have fun. The second verse talks about Mary's uniform and her daily life, but again encourages her to dance and have fun. The song ends with Mary preparing for a concert and dancing to the sweet melody.
The lyrics of "Sweet Mary" convey a message of enjoying life to the fullest and being true to oneself. Mary is depicted as a young woman who is hardworking and dedicated to her profession, but is also someone who knows how to let loose and have fun. The chorus, which is repeated numerous times throughout the song, encourages Mary to dance and enjoy herself.
The song is also notable for its use of ska music, which originated in Jamaica in the 1960s and is characterised by a lively and upbeat rhythm. The ska-influenced sound, combined with the song's catchy melody and upbeat lyrics, make "Sweet Mary" a popular dance tune.
