I have also read about the language in Cape Verde referred to as Creole.

The Creole language
There is a saying that the language reveals much about a country. This also applies to Cape Verde, where Creole (Crioulo) – in addition to the official national language of Portuguese – reflects its citizen’s unbelievable diversity that has been produced by centuries of migration.
So Portuguese is used for legal matters, in the media, at public offices, in churches and schools. On the other hand, Creole is the colloquial language spoken on the streets but also the language of music and poetry. The Creole of the Cape Verde Islands is considered to be one of the oldest African-European Creole languages. It can be compared with the Creole of Haiti, the Seychelles, Sierra Leone or Réunion. What all of these languages have in common is their historical background: People of very diverse origins had to communicate with each other somehow and therefore mixed their own language with words from the prevailing colonial language. Consequently, the Creole of Cape Verde consists of 90% from the “old“ Portuguese. The rest was borrowed from the African, French, English and other European languages; words from all of those languages whose people influenced the island’s history in the past. Above all, the intonation and the figurative images of the Creole form of expression come from Africa.
In addition, each of the islands has its own dialect. Due to their history, many English words are heard in São Vicente and the language of Santo Antão sounds more like French. Whenever people work together across the regions, they speak a type of “official Creole“ that everyone understands. With ALUPEC (The Unified Alphabet for the Writing of Capeverdean Creole), it became possible to declare Creole, which had only existed as a spoken language up to that time, as the official second national language.

Some of you dont know what "creole" means/really is...

First of all, "creole" was the name given to european (white) people who were born in the west indies or in european's colony to make a difference between them and european people in metropolis.

After, the term "creole" was adaptated to the people on all islands born of the African enslaved people mixed with the europeans, this definition is valid on west indies but not in other island like Reunion island where "creole" means everybody born in the island but with diverses origins because Reunion was invaded by asian, european etc...

In the case of beyonce, she is talking about louisiana creole who is a mixed of Haitian free slave and french people who were reunited together in Louisiana (I shortened)

"Creole" is also the language the african slaves created to talk between them without being understand by the master and is a kind of "deformation" of the language of the slaves owner (with african words added for some creole) which means that there is a lot of different creole. For exemple in the french west indies they talking martinican/guadeloupean creole which is a deformation of the french, in Haiti they talking the Haitian creole which resemble martinican creole and is also a deformation of french with some african word... In Mauricius, Reunion island they also talking creole but a different creole than martinican and Haitien one... In Jamaica they talking creole but and english creole because jamaica was a colony of England etc.....

@@fomalhauto notice how every single one of those definitions were different... the definition changes from place to place, from side to side and even different dictionaries have different definitions for it. Ever heard of African American Creole. Moreover if that's the case then this song wouldn't even make sense... You're not about to grab a couple definitions off of Merriam Webster and think you know more than me when I've literally dedicated my life to Black studies and genealogy. The word has had multiple iterations. The original meaning of the word describing anyone of any background born in the New World but then it is shifted and then became associated with several different things including the free people of color known as Louisiana Creole AKA African American Creole. Today's modern interation is not only languages but also representative of a mixture of cultures not necessarily ethnicities. The push for it to represent an ethnicity or a mixture of ethnic blood and not necessarily the culture came only with in the late 90s. And when the word is used in advertising it changes to whatever to however someone wants to benefit from advertising the word. That's why you have Haitian Creole, Louisiana Creole, Mississippi Creole, Carolina Creole, Bajan Creole, Cuban Creole Argentinian Creole and so on and so forth. Just because you're some guy that picked up a few definitions online doesn't mean you and all the sudden know the history of the entire word and its meaning or how its definition can vary from place to place or what your exposure is to it. Clearly you don't have that great of an exposure to the word because of your background and how it's used vastly different in the United States versus in the islands. Creole has multiple definitions including its association with being African American and being black. Louisiana Creole in particular is a culture not an ethnicity. It's a subculture of African-Americans hence why is called African American Creole and you can literally Google that. So when someone references the Creole culture they could be referencing any number of places. It's so ironic that you try to put forward this anti-racist idea there is no black and there is no white but trying to deny black people their own Heritage and white people at that too because there are white and black Creole people. It's a culture that applies to anyone of any skin tone. Brett Favre is of the Creole culture and so are black people and so are Asian people. It's all about where the French colonized.

You have every right to be proud! No one bats an eyelash when they say they’re proud of their beautiful brown melanated skin & praise their African roots. Everyone has the right to be proud of the skin they’re in & their ethnicity (not to mention Creole is a subcategory of black to begin with 🙄).. Lol I'm glad you're excited!! Italy is beautiful! I briefly vacationed there 5 yrs ago. The women are beautiful. Many of them have olive complexions with pretty colored eyes. The language is beautiful too & don't get me started on how good authentic Italian food is lol. Yes, I'm Creole & both of my parents are from New Orleans. I have lots of family there. I know plenty of other Creoles who 100% identify as Creole, as well. So don't say that most of us do. There are some who do, and some who do not.

Creole people have varioue ancestors, and some of them; if not to say many, are actually predominantly black like the 8 millions Islanders living in Haiti and the 300k Islanders living in Guadeloupe; from which actually Louisiana creole is originated.
