Intro
Beyond Lyrics

Something isn't right with us
I've been listening
Paying attention
You don't listen
You've been givin'
You've been spending up
Your time
Out there lying
Oh
Oh
Your like Novocaine, Novocaine
Something isn't right with us
I've been listening
Paying attention
You don't listen
You've been givin'
You've been spending up
Your time
Out there lying
Oh
Oh
Your like Novocaine, Novocaine
I didn't know what to do I was dying and I
Sat on my bed thinking why she always lying and I
Took a couple pills, she made me get the chills
I never thought she'd leave, throwing me out on the street
The times that we had showing love were amazing
I would stare at her eyes, beautiful but kinda raging
She would tell me its OK, she'd never lead me astray
But everything would change when she told me to go away
Something isn't right with us
I've been listening
Paying attention
You don't listen
You've been givin'
You've been spending up
Your time
Out there lying
Oh
Oh
Your like Novocaine, Novocaine
Something isn't right with us
I've been listening
Paying attention
You don't listen
You've been givin'
You've been spending up
Your time
Out there lying
Oh

Oh
Your like Novocaine, Novocaine

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Beyond's song "Intro" are about a relationship that is struggling and falling apart. The singer has been paying attention and realizes that something is not right between them. They have been listening but their partner has not, and instead, they have been lying and spending time elsewhere. The reference to "Novocaine" implies that the relationship has become numb and lifeless like a painkiller.

The second verse reveals the singer's perspective as they recount the moments leading up to the end of the relationship. They took pills and felt the chills, which could suggest a physical reaction to the emotional pain. The relationship had once been amazing with moments of love, but the singer describes their partner as beautiful yet raging. The relationship seemed to take a turn when the partner suddenly asked the singer to leave.

Overall, the song suggests the demise of a relationship where one partner had been lying and ignoring the other's needs. The use of "Novocaine" connotes a sense of numbness and disconnection.

This is such distilled Y2K and I love it. Like, if I ever had to summarize what cool looked like in 1999, I'd just show them this intro. It's the best of the era. Has the same distinct but timeless energy as 80s synthwave or jazzy swing from the 30s and 40s.

Kids THESE DAYS are into TikTok & Minecraft. If we could SHOW THEM stuff FROM OUR CHILDHOOD, maybe they wouldn't say" Stuff from the 90's & early 2,000's is SO LAME".

@Heil-Haidra2319 also grim tones and dark themes all around. Modern censorship consider kids are too frail to see dark themes, but that's what instills in us compassion and awareness that world isn't a completely happy place. You should build it yourself

0:04 Ah, back when everyone originally thought Japan was gonna take over the world and pave the way for the future that looks like something out of Bladerunner, Ghost in the Shell & Akira.

Just curious, how would describe something that is very "90s"?

I'm honestly still blown away by how awesome this show turned out to be. Because originally when I was told that this show would star a young teenage Batman I didn't think it would work and that the show would suck. But I gotta commend Bruce Timm and Dwayne McDuffie because they had to make most of these characters from scratch and they pulled this show off. I really need to watch this show full because I haven't seen the full series.

I remember when this came out.
I was teenager, so having grown up on the original Batman animated series and having this...man...good times. The Early 00s rocked!
